<p>Section 30 - Location/Survey </p> <p>S30/50695628/ETS/5.20.26-BH</p> <p>Engineering Tech Supervisor (Statewide Survey Crew)</p> <p>About this Position:</p> <p> This position assists the DOTD Surveyor Manager in managing field survey crews. Travels statewide to give direction, training, and to distribute supplies and delivers project requests to field survey crews.</p> <p>Please visit our DOTD Career Center for more information about our agency: http://wwwsp.dotd.la.gov/Inside_LaDOTD/Divisions/Mgmt_Finance/HR/Pages/Career_Center.aspx</p> <p>Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus five years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR</p> <p>Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus five years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR</p> <p>Thirty semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR</p> <p>A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Manages surveying projects by establishing priorities and coordinating daily assignments for field survey units, including personnel oversight, task scheduling, equipment calibration and maintenance, and travel logistics. </li><li>Supervises Land Technicians performing topographic, boundary, hydrographic, and geodetic survey work. Reviews and evaluates survey data collected by subordinate staff, including computations, plotting, and survey map preparation, to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards. </li><li>Contacts property owners along project to advise them of the proposed survey activities and obtains permission to enter upon private property to conduct the survey. Research the assessor's website and prepare notices of entry letters. </li><li>Assists with special survey projects involving geodetic methods, direct involvement in particularly complicated and/or detailed survey requirements and other projects as assigned by the Surveyor Administrator or his assistants. </li><li>Provides oversight in troubleshooting on surveys during the construction phase of the projects should problems arise.
