<p>Are you an ice skater who has a passion for teaching others? Join the Coon Rapids Skating school that provides a friendly, comfortable, and fun learning environment for skaters of all ages and abilities. We are looking for candidates that have completed the US Figure Skating Pre-Juvenile Freestyle test, Coon Rapids Ice Center Apprentice Program, or equivalent training program. </p> <p>The City of Coon Rapids employs a great team of people dedicated and service centered! (Note: instructor is responsible for finding a qualified substitute instructor for absences.) </li><li>Responsible for end of session progress reports sent home with each student. </li><li>Coordinates individual and/or group numbers for Ice Show. </li><li>Assists with testing sessions. </li><li>Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary. </li><li>Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers. </li><li>Performs other related functions as apparent or delegated. </li></ul> <p>To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.</p> <ul> <li>Completion of US Figure Skating Pre-Bronze Singles/Pre-Juvenile Free Skate test or Coon Rapids Ice Center Apprentice Program or equivalent training program. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. </li><li>Promotes a favorable working relationship with all ice users. </li><li>Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to perform duties with tact and discretion. </li><li>Handles confidential information appropriately. </li><li>Ability to perform job functions with high degree of accuracy. </li><li>Must have the ability to accept constructive criticism or discipline in a positive manner, initiating self-development to improve job performance. </li><li>Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks, work effectively under pressure, and completes work in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following:</p> <p>Minimum 16 years of age and skating experience as outlined above. Ability to work effectively and courteously with the public is essential.</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Successful completion of US Figure Skating Pre-Silver/Intermediate Free Skate test. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand and skate for long periods of time. </li><li>Ability to work in cool temperatures. </li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or keyboards; speak intelligibly, hear and read. </li><li>The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. </li><li>The employee must occasionally move, turn, lift and carry objects weighing up to the amount of the student skater using a jump harness, up to approximately 30 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, distance vision and depth perception. </li></ul> <p>EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Duties performed will be primarily within the Ice Center location. This position works closely with others.
