Vikan Middle School is a traditional middle school committed to academic excellence, restorative practices, and inclusive systems of support for all students. Located in the heart of Brighton, we are a vibrant community of learners and leaders guided by our vision: "Empowering our Knights today, to become the learners, leaders, and thinkers of tomorrow."</p> <p>As our student needs continue to grow, we are expanding our center-based Affective Needs program and adding a second AN teacher to strengthen our systems of support. Through restorative practices, we create environments where students can build trust, repair harm, develop self-awareness, and strengthen their sense of belonging.</p> <p>A Growing Specialized Program</p> <p>Our expansion of the Affective Needs program reflects our commitment to investing in students and creating stronger, more responsive systems of support.</p> <p>About the Role</p> <p>Provide Specialized Instruction and Support</p> <p>Deliver individualized academic instruction, social-emotional skill development, and behavioral support for students identified with affective needs through their IEPs.</p> <p>Case Manage and Lead IEP Development</p> <p>Serve as the case manager for students, collaborating with families, service providers, and school staff to design and implement meaningful, student-centered IEPs.</p> <p>Build Regulation and Behavioral Systems</p> <p>Implement proactive behavior supports, emotional regulation strategies, and individualized intervention plans that help students build independence and resilience.</p> <p>Support Crisis Prevention and Intervention</p> <p>Respond to and support students through moments of escalation using de-escalation strategies, crisis intervention practices, and restorative re-entry processes.</p> <p>Collaborate Across Systems</p> <p>Partner closely with fellow AN teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, deans, social workers, and classroom teachers to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive support system.</p> <p>Facilitate Student Transition and Inclusion</p> <p>Support students in building the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills necessary for increased success and inclusion in general education settings.</p> <p>Who You Are</p> <ul> <li>A passionate advocate for students with intensive social-emotional and behavioral needs </li><li>Skilled in special education case management, IEP development, and progress monitoring </li><li>Experienced in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and restorative practices </li><li>Committed to building strong relationships and structured systems of support </li><li>A collaborative educator who believes in growth, inclusion, and student empowerment </li></ul> <p>Learn More About Vikan!</p> <p>Visit us at: 879 Jessup Street, Brighton 80601</p> <p>Explore our district: School District 27J</p> <p>Join us in building a program where students are supported, challenged, and empowered to grow into their fullest potentialapply today!</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct instructional inclusion and assessment services to students with disabilities. </li><li>Work as a part of a teacher team in the development and direction of the program including supervision of paraprofessionals and coordination with related services staff and teachers within the elementary school. </li><li>Work with parents and agency personnel in coordinating needs for each student. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License - Special Education. </li><li>Colorado Department of Education "In Field" by CDE endorsement or qualifications to teach the posted subject area. </li><li>The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously. </li><li>The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team..
