<p>Adjunct Faculty, Ceramics (On Campus)</p> <p>Salary: $3,340 per course taught</p> <p>Location: Lakewood, CO</p> <p>Application Deadline: July 19, 2025</p> <p>Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design seeks qualified applicants for teaching ceramics on campus in the Fine Arts department as Adjunct Faculty who will be part of a growing, dynamic community of educators. RMCAD's on-campus program consists of eight-week courses. Adjunct faculty are assigned courses based on availability and student enrollment. Planned courses take place in the fall A semester, beginning September 2025. Faculty in this role will teach the course Ceramics: Handbuilding + Purposing (ART 1120). In this sophomore level course, students utilize experimental techniques associated with thematic and conceptual practices that are relevant to contemporary ceramics. Students will learn the basics of handbuilding and surfacing, and be introduced to 3D clay printing and 3D potter bot. They will practice essential handbuilding construction methods including coil building, slab construction, pinch and press molding.. Students will learn application techniques of surface design slips, underglazes, inlay, sgraffito, terra sigillata, glazes to decals, and confidently fire electric and raku kils. Students will investigate new ways of creating work through experimentation and collaboration using a variety of technologies and techniques.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching and Instructional Activities: the practice and art of teaching, including evaluation by students, supervisor(s), and self. Faculty must also comply with all administrative and classroom management policies, procedures and instructional deadlines. </li><li>Facilitate meaningful learning of curriculum, competencies and proactively support all facets of an inclusive learning environment </li><li>Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics </li><li>Deliver instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes for student success </li><li>Hold regular, weekly office hours </li><li>Attend required training sessions and departmental meetings (additional compensation provided) </li><li>Regularly record class attendance in Faculty Portal and submit midterm/final grades by the due date specified. </li><li>Provide timely, periodic, and meaningful feedback to students on assignments and participation. </li><li>Successfully complete online Faculty Certification Course, a two-week faculty online orientation and certification class administered through RMCAD's Learning Management System. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>MFA and professional experience in Ceramics </li><li>Must reside in the greater Denver area or be willing to relocate </li><li>Must be proficient in ceramics materials and processes </li><li>Teaching experience preferred </li></ul> <p>How to Apply:</p> <p>Review of applicants will begin immediately.
