<p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>The School Nutrition Worker is responsible for all assigned aspects of meal production, service, sanitation, and safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare food for meal service following the menu, using standardized recipes.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate equipment in a safe manner (equipment includes, but is not limited to: convection ovens, steamers, steam-jacketed kettles, steam tables, tilting skillets, microwave ovens, ranges, slicers, and can openers).</p> </li><li> <p>Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines:</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that all food, dry goods, and chemicals are handled and stored appropriately</p> </li><li> <p>Date, rotate, and discard all appropriate food items</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that the kitchen and cafeteria are sanitized and organized</p> </li><li> <p>Make sure that all equipment, dishware, and utensils are sanitized</p> </li><li> <p>Use proper food handling techniques:</p> </li><li> <p>Use appropriate hand-washing methods, gloves, and hair restraints as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor the temperature of food as it passes through the flow of storage, production, service, and transportation</p> </li><li> <p>Serve meals to students and staff:</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure safe and proper portioning of food</p> </li><li> <p>Make sure that all intended reimbursable meals include the required food items on the tray</p> </li><li> <p>Refill the serving line as needed between lunches</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in end-of-day clean up, including but not limited to: washing/sanitizing pots, pans, dishes, silverware, tables, and all other equipment as necessary</p> </li><li> <p>Manage cash drawer. Accurately count and record the cash total each day</p> </li><li> <p>Interact professionally and courteously with the kitchen manager, coworkers, students, and staff. Report any problems to the Kitchen Manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Director of School Nutrition.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and use proper lifting techniques. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and students. </li><li>ServSafe certification and Allergen certification preferred. </li></ul>
