<p>Job Title: PD Medical Technologist</p> <p>Location: Jersey City Medical Center</p> <p>Department Name: Lab JCMC</p> <p>Req #: 0000227661</p> <p>Status: Hourly</p> <p>Shift: Day</p> <p>Pay Range: $47.35 - $47.35 per hour</p> <p>Pay Transparency:</p> <p>The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.</p> <p>The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.</p> <p>Summary of Job Function</p> <p>Medical technologists analyze samples of blood, tissue and body fluids to determine chemical content, cell count, drug levels or blood type; they may also search for specific microorganisms like bacteria or parasites,</p> <p>Preparing the samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously, and accurately interpreting the results,</p> <p>Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution</p> <p>Experience: 1 year experience working in a hospital setting laboratory preferred</p> <p>Certification/Licensure: ASCP preferred</p> <p>Work Environment and Hazards</p> <p>Handling biohazard specimens</p> <p>Special Physical Demands</p> <p>Work Contact Group / Additional Responsibilities</p> <p>All patient related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff,</p> <p>Job Specific Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, and spinal fluids, </li><li>The Medical Technologist process and receives samples of blood, urine and body fluids, </li><li>Performs and interprets clinical laboratory test, obtaining data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, </li><li>Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures, </li><li>Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests, </li><li>Ensures operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements and performs quality control; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques, </li><li>The Medical Technologist function independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and records all data obtained in the computer and/or log book, </li><li>Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies, </li><li>Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results, </li><li>Provides medical technology information by answering questions and requests, </li><li>Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, </li><li>Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, </li><li>Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation, </li><li>Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, </li><li>Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols; following identification procedures, </li><li>Adheres to all laboratory policies and procedures, </li><li>Performs proficiency testing as required by CAP, </li><li>Maintains patient confidence and protects the hospital by keeping information confidential, </li><li>Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, </li></ul> <p>Choosing RWJBarnabas Health!</p> <p>RWJBarnabas Health is the premier health care destination providing patient-centered, high-quality academic medicine in a compassionate and equitable manner, while delivering a best-in-class work experience to every member of the team.
