Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Teaches all levels (zero-beginner/pre-literacy to college readiness) of ESL to refugee, new immigrant, and college-bound students at assigned campuses in the District. </li><li>Uses student-centric methodologies and approaches in classes appropriate to student and program goals. </li><li>Writes class syllabus; prepares lesson plans, course materials, and curriculum; teaches classes in accordance with course syllabi and outcomes; and employs multiple teaching styles to match program and student learning styles and goals. </li><li>Diagnoses student placement in level during the first week of classes. </li><li>Creates assessments to measure student outcomes and creates and grades tests, quizzes, oral presentations, etc., to measure student progress to outcomes. </li><li>Introduces and effectively uses technology in classes. </li><li>Selects appropriate course materials (from a defined group); assists with material selection and ordering; and maintains and assesses curriculum and materials on a regular basis. </li><li>Tracks, records, and submits student attendance, grades, and progress and completes required reports; tracks and reports on student success rates during and post-class. </li><li>Attends department, team, and other relevant meetings and participates in professional staff development activities. </li></ul> <p>Informs students of and upholds school policies.</p> <ul> <li>Supports systems for quality control aligned with funding/grant compliance for department data collection and operations </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field is required. </li><li>Master's Degree / TESOL or related field preferred. </li><li>Minimum of two (2) years of ESL teaching experience to adults in a variety of settings. </li><li>Experience teaching using the communicative approach. </li><li>Experience living and working abroad. </li><li>CELTA, or TEFL/TESL certification (minimum of 100 hours in class) required. </li><li>Adult Education and Vocational Certificates (e.g., ABEA) preferred. </li><li>Proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. </li><li>Effective time management and organizational skills. </li><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines. </li><li>The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance. </li><li>Works collaboratively with others on a team. </li><li>Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
