All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.</p> <p>ABOUT THE JOB</p> <p>The Accounting Specialist will keep current, accurate and detailed accounts payable and accounts receivable records. The position will actively participate in the reconciliation activities at the month end to ensure accurate and timely accounting entries.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/THE DAY-TO-DAY</p> <ul> <li>Process and monitor all vendor payment agreements and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, and statements </li><li>Maintaining accounts payable, ensure timely payment of invoices, confirming validity of the debt and gathering appropriate approvals </li><li>Prepare monthly customer & vendor statement reconciliations relating to accounts receivables & accounts payables </li><li>Work cross-functionally with other departments in the organization to drive efficiency in the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes </li><li>Support the general ledger team with special projects and ad hoc requests </li><li>Builds relationships with vendors, management, and employees </li><li>Ensure all payables are recorded correctly </li><li>Ensures proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits </li><li>Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records </li><li>Manage miscellaneous debits and credits as needed. </li><li>Apply daily cash receipts. </li><li>Credit collections on accounts past due. </li><li>Research and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable issues. </li><li>Communicate discrepancies and problems immediately. </li><li>Maintain customer data base for name and address changes, taxable or non-taxable. </li><li>This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position and that the duties and responsibilities may change without notice. </li></ul> <p>AM I THE RIGHT FIT?</p> <p>Not everyone can be an Accounting Specialist. To be seriously considered for the role here is what you'll bring:</p> <p>Education & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting </li><li>2+ years experience in Accounting </li><li>Wine and Spirits industry experience a plus </li><li>Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central experience is preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Accounting software and databases </li><li>Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Ability to manipulate large amounts of data </li><li>Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations </li><li>High attention to detail and accuracy </li><li>Organized and excellent follow-through a must; detail-oriented and deadline driven </li><li>Proactive, self-motivated, takes initiative and ability to direct and supervise </li><li>Team player with a positive attitude; flexible to adapt to changing needs/priorities </li></ul> <p>Physical requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. </li><li>Lifting and carrying: this role may involve lifting and carrying product samples, promotional materials, or demonstration equipment up to 50 lbs. </li><li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
