<p>Job Description:</p> <p>INNOVATION ZONE CLASSROOM TEACHER & TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR</p> <p>OVERVIEW:</p> <p>St. Raphael Academy is seeking an Innovation Zone Teacher &Technology Coordinator for the 2025-2026 Academic Year. This role entails both classroom instruction and support with managing technology throughout the school. Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for supporting the school and the Diocese of Bridgeport in its mission. Addresses specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration. Educators are engaged in a school conducted by the Roman Catholic Church for the express purpose of education in the academic, social, moral and religious values promulgated by the Church.</p> <p>The Innovation Zone course is a hands-on STEM course designed to introduce students in grades PK3 - 3rd to foundational STEM concepts and technology skills. The Innovation Zone teacher must demonstrate creativity and an initiative in creating age-appropriate lessons and activities to scaffold the course. Additionally serving as the Techology Coordinator, this requires a strong understanding of educational technology. The Technology Coordinator manages the physical hardware and software used throughout the building, including Google accounts, Clever accounts, and all Chromebooks, iPads, and laptops. He/she also supports the school with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly, and collaborates with the principal regarding status of inventory/need and communicates a strategic plan for device replacement.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. </li><li>Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example. </li><li>Helps build the school's faith community by a demonstrated willingness to participate in and plan school religious and service activities. </li><li>Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons and incorporating school and diocesan curriculum objectives in lesson plans. </li><li>Demonstrates competence in teaching by having a current, thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter and is able to communicate effectively with students; ability to organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks as well as motivate student learning. </li><li>Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level or PLCs, to evaluate and assess curriculum; participates in faculty meetings and committees. </li><li>Develops and uses effective methods of evaluation directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluates student progress. </li><li>Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self-direction and positive self-image; sets high standards for student behavior; manages inappropriate behavior effectively as per school/diocesan policies. </li><li>Cooperates with school and diocesan administration; works effectively with all staff members. </li><li>Demonstrates professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of information, displays sound judgment in professional dress and general behavior. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal or Diocesan Administrator. </li></ul> <p>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church. </li><li>Excellent communications skills including written, verbal, public speaking and presentation skills. </li><li>Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player. </li><li>Proficiency in the use of computer technology and related educational technology. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing </li><li>Master's Degree </li><li>Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School </li><li>Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level </li></ul> <p>Interested candidates should complete the CT Reap application and submit a cover letter, resume and 3 current letters of recommendation to dlynch@catholicacademybridgeport.org.</p>
