Requires 3 or more years of job related experience.</p> <p>Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned.· Ability to lift 50 pounds.· Ability to perform repeated bending, stooping, lifting, reaching activities. I.e. pushing/pulling fully loaded custodial carts, reaching to clean blackboards, bending and stooping to do spot cleaning, empty trash cans, etc.· Ability to read, speak, and understand at a level appropriate to the position.· Skilled in working in a university or large institution.· Good interpersonal communication skills.· Excellent customer skills. Ability to get along with a diverse campus community.· Ability to operate power cleaning equipment.· Use custodial systems such as those to track work orders and cell phone for communication· Ability to organize work assignments and custodial closets.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Job Duty</p> <p>Direct supervision of Environmental Services staff assigned to campus location. Varies from 2-4 employees. Make assignments to locations. Review work orders with employees to allow for reallocation of staff to cover heavy workloads within buildings.</p> <p>Responsible for the overall cleanliness of assigned buildings, including custodial duties, daily cleaning of restrooms, lounges, offices, classrooms and corridors in accordance with standard operating procedures of the department. Maintains and operates vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, buffers, auto scrubbers, blowers, etc. for maintaining carpets, tile floors, and exterior areas. Organize custodial carts and closets.</p> <p>Responsible for daily disposal of trash and cardboard and pick-up of recycling materials.</p> <p>Supervise all summer part-time employees and assign work as necessary.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty</p> <p>During daily inspections of area assigned and as supervisor all areas assigned to Environmental Specialist, for any deficiencies of life safety systems on campus. Report same to supervisor via work order system daily.</p> <p>Identifies and maintains supplies necessary for cleaning and maintenance operations . Stores hazardous materials in accordance with codes and regulations.</p> <p>Handles all chemicals and wastes in accordance with Safety Data Sheets. Makes sure all universal wastes are properly stored for disposal.</p> <p>Make certain that all new hires are trained in the proper use of cleaners and the use of provided safety equipment. Review all procedures with all employees periodically.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty</p> <p>Responds to and corrects deficiencies identified in service orders in a manner that minimizes waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance, and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable repairs or activities.</p> <p>Manages cleaning quality in the building. Provides supervision and training needed to correct deficiencies. Records quality and cleaning trends and shares information with supervisor. Alerts the Environmental Services Manager or the Service Response Coordinator of maintenance issues or deficiencies.</p> <p>Assumes other duties as assigned, which includes providing help and assistance to other department trade group members as needed in the completion of work tasks. Directs building housekeeping/utility staff in performance of project work and event support, including set-up and dismantling of all scheduled campus events.
