<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Engineering, Science, and Technology Technical Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining and supporting the classroom lab spaces for the electromechanical technology program, including the Cleanroom Simulation Lab. This role ensures the smooth operation of these key labs, while also providing support for other labs such as mechanical technology, machine tool labs, welding labs, and electrical technology labs as needed. The Lab Technician will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to provide a safe and effective learning environment.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lab Maintenance and Setup:</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and organize lab equipment and supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Set up and prepare lab spaces for classes and demonstrations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all lab equipment is in proper working condition and perform routine maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety and Compliance:</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce safety protocols and procedures in all lab spaces.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Technical Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Provide technical support to faculty and students during lab sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with lab equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Train students and staff on the proper use of lab equipment and safety procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Inventory Management:</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and manage inventory of lab supplies and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Order and restock supplies as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate records of inventory and equipment usage.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration and Communication:</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum development and lab activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students regarding lab schedules and requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Special Projects:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with special projects and initiatives related to lab development and enhancement.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the implementation of new technologies and equipment in the labs.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor within scope of job responsibilities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency, or equivalent experience. </li><li>Experience in maintaining and supporting lab environments. </li><li>Knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical technology. </li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency. </li><li>Experience in an educational setting. </li><li>Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards. </li><li>Proficiency in using and maintaining lab equipment. </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Must have the ability to function in a highly collaborative environment and develop effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for, the diversity of academics, ethnicity, culture, disability, religion, and sexual orientation of students in an academic environment </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to personal and departmental development, professionalism, multicultural education, creativity, collaboration, and initiative </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively prioritize among competing needs </li><li>Ability to utilize assessment data to guide development of effective initiatives for continuous improvement </li><li>Must be proactive, demonstrate sound judgment, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills </li><li>Must have the ability to handle confidential information in a professional and sensitive manner </li><li>Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and outside community groups </li><li>Must possess a willingness to take initiative on new projects and facilitate change </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>CSEA (Civil Service) position grade 7, anticipated salary is $48,528.
