<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Adjunct Instructor - Physics</p> <p>Unit: DCE Adjunct Faculty</p> <p>Department: STEM</p> <p>Reports to: Dean of STEM</p> <p>Date: July 30, 2024</p> <p>General Summary: Middlesex Community College seeks to fill part-time physics faculty positions for lecture and laboratory courses (in-person, hybrid, online) beginning the fall 2025 semester. The College's part-time science faculty are knowledgeable and creative professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to working with the College's diverse students and community. The College is committed to hiring creative and knowledgeable individuals that have expertise in this area.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction for a group of up to 24 students in a classroom </li><li>Ability to instruct in at least one of the following courses: Physics I & II (science & non-science majors) </li><li>Develop and use student-centered pedagogies </li><li>Develop and use assessment strategies that maximize the developmental learning process and measure student learning outcomes </li><li>Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities </li><li>Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom </li><li>Use Blackboard Learning Management System to post syllabi, assignments, and grades </li><li>Participate in the end-of-the-term grading session of a common final assessment </li><li>Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Physics, or closely related field </li><li>Classroom teaching of high school or college science courses </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to diversity, continuous professional improvement, developmental education, inclusive pedagogies and use of technology to support student learning </li><li>Willingness to work collegially with a diverse body of faculty and staff </li><li>Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, veterans, and individuals with different academic preparation levels and varying physical and learning abilities. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Doctorate degree preferred </li><li>Bilingual skills a plus </li><li>Working knowledge of MS Word, Blackboard LMS, and PC </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salary Range: The salary assigned will be determined by the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement per credit salary chart.</p> <p>Location: Lowell and/or Bedford campus as needed</p> <p>Expected Start Date: Fall 2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: This position will remain open until filled</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>All applicants must apply online by submitting:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Names and contact information for three (3) professional references </li></ul> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements:</p> <p>The College will not sponsor applicants for work visas.</p> <p>All offers of employment at Middlesex Community College are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
