<p>Duties</p> <p>Vision of Learning:</p> <ul> <li>Works collaboratively in assessment and educational program planning with members of a multidisciplinary team. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge and research in the field/area of specialty. </li><li>Facilitates the development of thinking, learning, and communication strategies. </li><li>Works collaboratively with outside agencies and personnel when appropriate to assist in meeting student needs. </li></ul> <p>Learning Context and Differentiated Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Develops and implements curriculum that meets students' individualized education plan needs and aligns with state standards. </li><li>Demonstrates a thorough understanding of disabilities and demonstrates an ability to effectively address the needs of children based on evidence-based practice. </li><li>Displays the ability to use classroom technology effectively and utilize software to collect and analyze student data. </li><li>Design instruction that is integrated, challenging, authentic, and engages the learner. </li><li>Provides instruction that supports learners in all areas of development, including social, educational, physical, emotional, and communication. </li><li>Integrates student goals and objectives into all areas of instruction. </li><li>Organizes time, environment, materials, and equipment to facilitate learning. </li></ul> <p>Assessment</p> <ul> <li>Conduct informal and formal assessments of student progress in learning and behavior. </li><li>Involves students in the assessment process. </li><li>Interprets assessment in an equitable and culturally fair manner. </li></ul> <p>Staff Roles</p> <ul> <li>Communicates effectively in writing, including composing reports for IEP meetings or home/school correspondence. </li><li>Completes required documentation/IEP case management responsibilities and record-keeping in the specified time and manner for all students on the teacher's caseload. </li><li>Responsible for supervising classroom paraprofessionals, including providing direction, assistance, and professional guidance to support their development. </li><li>Responsible for the supervision and safety of all students in the classroom. </li><li>Demonstrates continual assessment of personal and program effectiveness. </li><li>Maintains and documents ongoing communication with families. </li><li>Assists with in-servicing district personnel on the needs of students in the program/classroom. </li><li>Participates in transition planning when appropriate </li><li>Sets an example for students to follow. </li><li>Teaches and supports students with daily living skills, including feeding by mouth, tube feeding, changing, toileting, and personal hygiene. </li><li>Lifts and transports students, as needed. No weight restrictions. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of first aid and health-related emergency procedures. </li><li>Participates in professional growth activities. </li><li>Demonstrates professionalism. </li><li>Follows policies and procedures established by NTDSE and the IL School Code. </li></ul> <p>Communication Skills</p> <ul> <li>Communicates in an effective, collaborative, and positive manner with students, colleagues, and families </li><li>Acts as an integral member of the educational team </li><li>Maintains confidentiality in matters related to this position </li><li>Relates in a helpful, positive, and efficient manner with peers, supervisors, and all those in contact with NTDSE </li><li>Serves as a positive ambassador for NTDSE </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Professional Educator's License endorsed for Learning Behavior Specialist.</p> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>Compensation and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Per the Niles Township Federation of Special Education Educators and Support Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement.
