<p>Position Description</p> <p>Leads and supportsprograms and activities involved withMetroParks'programming,communityoutreach,andspecial events.SupportstheOutdoor RecreationDivision'sadministrative operations, equipment maintenanceand management, and other functions.Provides input and support todivision coordinators.</p> <p>Duties/Responsibilities</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform essential duties to expected performance standards.Reasonable accommodations are made as required for persons with disabilities as defined under the AmericanswithDisabilitiesAct.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supportsresearch, development, and implementationof outdoor recreation programs,eventsand serves as lead or supportsinstructor where applicable,including in person and virtual programming.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports the planning and facilitation of programs with thepublic under supervision of aCoordinator,including risk management</p> </li><li> <p>Supports Coordinator in working with partners, contract instructorsand service providersand volunteers tofacilitateprograms,activities,and events;assistsVolunteer Coordinator at assigned sites as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Procures,inventories, checksinandout, repairsandmaintainsprogram and event equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Providesadministrative support.</p> </li><li> <p>Assistswithprogram reports,grantreportingandcost of service reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves on agency initiatives and projects working with variousMetroParks'department employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in MetroParks-wide programming as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information.</p> </li><li> <p>Works assigned schedule,exhibitsregular and punctualattendance,and worksoutside of normal schedule as required.</p> </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supports development and implementation of events including exhibitor relations, managing volunteers, communications with partners and sponsors, media relations and other related event responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports marketing and promotional efforts for programming,special eventsand facilities,i.e.,social media, e-mail marketing, print materials, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides service to the public, responding to questions,helping, supporting programs/events,and providing information.</p> </li><li> <p>Works withsupervisorsto coordinate fleet management responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports the developmentofSpeaker Bureau and outreach programs for schools and other groups.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports coordination of programming, activities and events with park and facility operations staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates internally, within and across departmental boundaries, to provide information and service to others in the organization to contribute to the effective operation of the agency and all staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends professional development and training opportunities. Maintains required certifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Acombination ofappropriate education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant todemonstraterequired knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:</p> <p>Associate's degree in outdoor recreation management or closely related field and one year experience in outdoor recreation programming. Willingness and ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.</p> <p>Personal experience with one or more outdoor adventure and nature program activities such as:kayaking/canoeing/Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), road and /or mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, outdoor foundation skills including camping, wilderness medicine, fishing, map and compass navigation, trip planning, leadership, natural interpretation is preferred.</p> <p>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Valid Drivers' License which meets Five RiversMetroParks'insurance carrier guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Wilderness First Aid certificationacquiredwithin one year of employment.</p> </li><li> <p>Specializedoutdoorrecreationcertifications asneeded.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening test prior to employment.</p> <p>Five Rivers MetroParks is an EEO/AA employer that values diversity in the workplace.</p> <p>First consideration given to those who apply by January 2</p>
