MT's prepare specimens for testing, perform routine laboratory tests, perform specialized laboratory tests, perform quality control, troubleshoot quality control errors and maintenance procedures, recognize and evaluate computer data problems, troubleshoot laboratory instruments, perform preventative maintenance, communicate technical information to medical and lay persons, assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participate in continuing education, recognize normal and abnormal values, and model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities.</p> <p>In addition to the responsibilities above, the MT in this role:</p> <ul> <li>Monitors and facilitates maximum staff productivity/efficiency in the delivery of quality laboratory testing. </li><li>Serves as a facilitator with staff in problem resolution and adjustments to change. </li><li>Investigates and resolves complex issues related to all phases of analytical processing and documents appropriately. </li><li>Ensures maintenance procedures are monitored, performed and documented correctly </li><li>Monitors Coagulation quality control for shifts and trends. </li><li>Troubleshoots QC problems unresolved by bench techs. </li><li>Ensures QC documentation are correct. </li><li>Reviews, updates, and writes laboratory procedures as needed. </li><li>Performs coagulation parallel testing, correlations and reference range evaluations. </li><li>Prepares and completes lot conversions as needed and re-evaluates the therapeutic heparin range. </li><li>Documents/files all service reports. </li><li>Consults with pathologist concerning any unresolved problems. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Description</p> <p>Education: Bachelor of Science degree In Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline required. Experience: At least three years of clinical experience required. Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or relevant catagorical certification required. NOTE: This is a Career Ladder Position. Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements.
