<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Fine Arts Department seeks a faculty member in printmaking. The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate printmaking courses in intaglio, lithography, relief, screen print and digital technologies. Additional skills and teaching abilities in drawing is desired. The candidate must also possess the ability to leverage a strong foundation in traditional artistic skill and practice as a platform for more divergent thinking and innovation. We are open to hybrid forms of creative and interdisciplinary inquiry that will connect to other units in the Fine Arts Department and the College. The ideal candidate must also have an established exhibition record and teaching experience at the college level.</p> <p>The successful candidate should be a team-oriented leader who will play an active role with the Fine Arts Department in terms of curriculum development, facility management, leadership and student mentorship, as well as cross-disciplinary collaboration throughout the College.</p> <p>Specific competencies sought as related to the position:</p> <p>Globalism</p> <ul> <li>Shares knowledge of both Western and non-Western art history and current practices in contemporary art. </li></ul> <p>Instructional Design</p> <ul> <li>Capable of implementing a newly redesigned printmaking and fine arts curriculum. </li><li>Integrates traditional techniques with digital processes and interdisciplinary inquiry. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to work with FIT's Health and Safety as well the Department Chair in areas of health and safety, encouraging safe and sustainable studio practices. </li><li>Serves as a strong contributor to curricular assessment and development. Demonstrate commitment to student-centeredness with active participation in student work reviews, and show the ability to offer productive verbal feedback, assessment, and counseling. </li><li>Specializes in curriculum development, with expertise in teaching foundations and the AAS program, as well as the advanced level and the BFA program. </li><li>Demonstrates instruction and development of interdisciplinary and hybrid teaching methods in the Fine Arts classroom with expertise in teaching art in the expanded field. </li></ul> <p>Learning Enrichment</p> <ul> <li>Provides a collaborative environment for interdisciplinary projects. Encourages independent thinking and innovation in all students. </li><li>Demonstrates a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire interest, curiosity, and creativity in students. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to utilize a variety of instructional delivery systems, including various mediated sources that foster critical thinking and problem solving in students. </li><li>Enriches the learning experience by creating opportunities for students to engage with professional artists, New York's museums and galleries, and the broader art world. </li><li>Incorporates interdisciplinary approaches to teaching into the Fine Arts learning environment. </li><li>Contributes to the ongoing success of students by offering mentorship advisement for clubs and activities, and counseling for students regarding their future careers. </li></ul> <p>Professionalism</p> <ul> <li>Maintains a strong exhibition record and actively participates in the broader artistic community. </li><li>Demonstrates leadership and engagement in service to the department and college. </li><li>Helps to build and expand upon the existing curriculum to connect the program with evolving contemporary art practices. </li></ul> <p>Technology</p> <ul> <li>Utilizes traditional and digital printmaking technologies.
