<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute Middle School Special Education Teacher to work with students in the Resource program beginning in the 2025-2026 school year and anticipated to continue through mid- November, based on the needs of the district. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience working with a range of learning differences using strategies to support students within the general education setting.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut Special Education Certification required (165, 065 or 265) </li><li>Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals </li><li>Strong case management skills </li><li>Experience with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) designed to promote students' educational, physical, and/or social development </li><li>Effectively communicate with students and parents </li><li>Demonstrated ability to write accurate and thorough assessment reports, IEP's and progress reports </li><li>Experience with instructional strategies related to literacy and numeracy at the middle school level, as well as, modifying curriculum within the general education setting </li><li>Knowledge and skills related to progress monitoring student data as it relates to goals/objectives </li><li>Engage positively with teachers, students and families in the learning process </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to improve learning for all students </li><li>Utilize data to make instructional decisions </li></ul> <p>Pay:</p> <ul> <li>The daily rate for substitute teachers is $130. Please note for long term substitute positions (40+ days): The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $278.61 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach. </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. </li><li>Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child. </li><li>Position can require physical interaction with students who have difficulty regulating emotions and controlling behavior. </li><li>Must occasionally lift, move, or support other staff with physically escorting students. </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
