Must be able to use PPE to include face mask, boots, hard hat, hearing protection and gloves. </li><li>A pre-employment physical exam will be required; possible annual requirement </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0018, Safety and Occupational Health Management Series.</p> <p>GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I have three years of progressively responsible general experience, one year of experience which is equivalent to at least a pay band NH-01, (GS-04), or equivalent and at a level close to the work of this position that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform. General experience is described as scientific or technical work that provided an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the safety and occupational health field. Creditable general experience must have demonstrated the achievement of knowledge equivalent to the education described below. (https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/classifying-general-schedule-positions/occupationalhandbook.pdf)</p> <p>OR</p> <p>EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelors degree in a major study-safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupation health, industrial hygiene, occupation medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. This education has been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit copies of your unofficial transcripts with your application if using education as a substitution of experience.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>CERTIFICATION: Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combination of successfully completed, post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. They possess exceptional problem-solving skills to evaluate safety hazards and the confidence to enforce corrective actions, including exercising stop-work authority to prevent imminent danger.
