<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a School Based Secretary- Guidance effective the start of the 26-27 School Year. This position is a 10 month, school based role at Ledyard Middle School. Under the general supervision of the school Administrator, the school based administrative assistant performs a wide variety of clerical, secretarial, and recordkeeping tasks.</p> <p>School Secretary (10-Month) Guidance:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as contact and reference source for staff, students, parents, and the public </li><li>Greets visitors and answers public inquiries in a pleasant and professional manner and/or directing inquiries to the appropriate individuals </li><li>Creates forms, compiles and organizes data and information necessary for the efficient operation of the office and completion of district, state, and federal reports </li><li>Provides school-specific administrative support </li><li>Maintains appointment and event calendars </li><li>Uses the Visitor Management System </li><li>Communicates effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters </li><li>Performs special assignments, studies, routine administrative functions and other related duties as assigned by the building administrator or designee </li><li>Maintains attendance records and monitors student absences and tardies in Powerschool in accordance with BOE policy </li><li>Assist the needs of students, substitute teachers, maintenance staff and others </li><li>Plan and organize work according to office procedures and established priorities </li><li>Assist in obtaining substitute teachers and provide necessary school information </li><li>Supervises or summon assistance for ill or injured students in absence of the school nurse </li><li>Perform routine filing, word processing, typing, and related clerical support to the principal as required. Operate office equipment such as computer, calculator, and photocopier </li><li>Independently compile information for reports as directed by the principal. Perform special assignments, studies and routine administrative functions as directed </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and decision making skills; ability to work with employees and the public in a professional, effective, and courteous manner </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel, parents, students, and the public; working collaboratively as a team member </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. </li><li>Genuine interest in supporting the needs of students and staff </li><li>Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form </li><li>Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals </li><li>Considerable knowledge of office management and standard operating procedures </li><li>Highly developed ability to plan, organize and coordinate work </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree or equivalent work experience </li><li>Working knowledge of G-Suite office software </li><li>PowerSchool experience a plus </li></ul> <p>Pay and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>In accordance with the Ledyard Educational Secretaries Agreement </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Works in standard office and school building environments </li><li>Travel between schools, or between schools and central office, may be required </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
