<p>The program coordinator will plan, coordinate, and implement activities pertaining to the HEOP Audio Lab. The HEOP Audio Lab is where program students learn audio recording and music production, which facilitates students' academic growth, identity development, and marketable skill building. Audio Lab activities are aligned with the mission and goals of HEOP by contributing to students' academic, personal, and professional success. The program coordinator will teach audio recording and music production to students individually and in a group setting.</p> <p>Program coordinator must have significant knowledge of relevant audio recording hardware and software and contribute to the upkeep of audio recording equipment. The program coordinator will mentor students as they navigate creative decisions pertaining to genre, instrument, vocals, etc. The program coordinator will help students gain confidence in their abilities and assist students in bringing their creative ideas into fruition. The program coordinator will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment, facilitate community building, and build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Music Education preferred; bachelor's degree in related field required. </li><li>2 years of music teaching required. </li><li>1 year of teaching music in a higher ed setting required. </li><li>Professional experience working with a diverse population in a higher ed setting required. </li><li>Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion for students, faculty, and staff. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Technical knowledge of audio recording software such as Ableton, Logic, Soundtrap, Audacity, etc. </li><li>Professional background in music composition, fundamentals, and teaching. </li><li>The ability to assess student skill level and adjust objectives to facilitate maximum growth. </li><li>The ability to make complex audio recording skills interesting and accessible to beginners. </li><li>Should be able to take initiative and be able to prioritize workload with little guidance. </li><li>Should be able to work independently and demonstrate professional discernment, judgement, and decision-making pertaining the Audio Lab goal and functions. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Staff the Audio Lab on a daily basis; may require hours outside of normal business hours. </li><li>Maintain and upkeep Audio Lab equipment. </li><li>Mentor students through the creative process as it pertains to Audio Lab activities. </li><li>Contribute to HEOP retention and graduation objectives by supporting relevant initiatives. </li><li>Create a welcoming environment to all students who enter the lab. </li><li>Assess skill level and adjust teaching and guidance to match. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
