<p>The Tax Managing Counsel will assist in developing and managing tax planning and strategies that maximize business opportunities while optimizing Tesla's cash tax position, minimizing the effective tax rate, and managing tax risk.</p> <p>The ideal candidate must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and work closely and proactively within the tax team and numerous other business groups and functional teams. They will need to be an experienced professional who has deep U.S. and international tax planning experience, has had extensive exposure to complex transactions, and is skilled in creating and driving tax planning and strategy. This position will serve as a critical liaison between key business groups, finance and legal.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in implementing tax strategies and coordinating global tax planning, including advising on tax consequences of business initiatives and operating strategies such as market expansions and product launches </li><li>Review, monitor, and analyze changes in U.S. and global tax legislation, rulings, regulations, and litigation </li><li>Recommend and implement responsive actions to manage existing positions and capture new opportunities </li><li>Assist with establishing and updating tax models for various matters, including forecasting tax attribute utilization, changes in tax positions, GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, and FTC </li><li>Collaborate with tax team members to implement corporate tax policy and strategies, and support tax operations with disclosures, elections, and technical analysis </li><li>Support the quarterly close process by drafting and updating required tax memoranda and documentation </li><li>10+ years of experience within a large multinational company, Big 4 public accounting, or a law firm handling complex tax issues and analysis </li><li>Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Extensive U.S. federal and international tax experience, including Subchapter C, foreign tax credit/tax attribute planning, intercompany restructuring, and international reorganizations </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to interface with individuals at all organizational levels both within and outside of tax </li><li>Ability to proactively manage change while fostering collaboration, credibility, and commitment as a strong team player </li><li>Exceptional tax research, financial and business acumen, and keen analytical skills </li><li>J.D. in Taxation, or graduate degree in a related field highly preferred </li></ul>
