Whether you are involved with caring for animals, educating our visitors or working in a behind-the-scenes position in administration, maintenance or garden services, all of our positions share our institutional mission, purpose, and core values.</p> <p>Who We Are Looking For:</p> <p>Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides financial leadership and stewardship. The CFO will play a critical role in ensuring the organization's financial health, enabling us to expand our impact and meet our mission. As a member of the executive team, the CFO is responsible for analyzing, interpreting and presenting the financial condition and prospects of the Zoo, and for identifying and analyzing strategies to ensure the Zoo achieves its financial and budgetary objectives both short- and long-term. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the management of the Accounting and Finance functions of the Zoo and its investment activities, and is for organizing, directing, and controlling the work of the finance department personnel in collecting, summarizing, and interpreting financial data for the use of the management team and Board of Directors, for managing payroll functions, cash management, and for conducting special financial analyses as required by management or the Board.</p> <p>The Chief Financial Officer plays three very important roles: (1) a steward, managing risk and preserving financial and investment assets, (2) an operator, running an efficient and effective financial operation and (3) a catalyst, helping to drive organizational strategy and execution to achieve financial goals across the Zoo.</p> <p>What You Will Do:</p> <p>Reasonable Accommodations Statement: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.</p> <ul> <li>Financial Management and Reporting: Oversee all financial operations; Responsible for timely, accurate and relevant internal and external financial reports including budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management. Oversee cash counting operations and controls. Responsible for maintaining a system of internal controls, including policies and procedures to safeguard the assets and ensure integrity of the financial reporting systems. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and ensure financial integrity. The CFO is the primary Zoo relationship manager with its external accounting firm on audits and banks and other lenders, and with the banks and other financial advisers who manage the Zoo's endowment and other financial resources. </li><li>Non-Profit Accounting: Ensure that the Zoo's financial system and external reports are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profit accounting principles (including fund accounting and proper allocation of restricted and unrestricted funds. Prepares financial statements for internal use that reflect the modified cash approach utilized by the Zoo for internal reporting. </li><li>Budgeting, Forecasting and Modeling: Develop and manage annual budgets, conduct financial forecasting, and provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Oversee the annual operations and capital budget process. Using a resilient approach, the CFO will develop financial modeling that evolves as the organization changes and responds to external events and strategic internal decisions. Develop and present, as required, longer-term financial models for annual, three-year or strategic plans that inform management and board decision making. All models should be adaptable to reflect intentional or unanticipated changes in the business. </li><li>Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the executive team and board of directors, and ensure compliance with all financial regulatory requirements (e.g., Form 990). </li><li>Donor Relations: Collaborate with the development team to support fundraising efforts and maintain strong relationships with donors. The CFO is ultimately responsible to ensure that records of the Development Department are accurate, timely and correctly reflected in the Zoo's books and records. </li><li>Leadership: Participates with the executive team and Board of Directors in annual and long-range strategic planning and takes a pro-active role within management in identifying financial requirements, risks, and options and presenting those to the CEO and the Board for decision.
