<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Community Connections/LEAP Engagement Specialist</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>8/10/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>District Wide</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Executive Director of School and Family Supports</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month position, 25 hours per week</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION: To connect directly with families and students to establish trusting relationships, help return them to a more regular form of school attendance, and assist with placement in summer, after school, and learning programs.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This description of the position of LEAP Engagement Specialist is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the supervisor according to varying needs.</p> <ul> <li>Complete LEAP Home Visitor training and implement program following identified protocols. </li><li>Maintain active caseload of families engaged in the LEAP process, including scheduling and completing home visits. </li><li>During each home visit, work with both parent and child whenever possible to identify barriers to engagement and attendance. </li><li>Discuss healthy child development, school readiness, parent involvement in school, racial equity and advocacy related topics. </li><li>Deliver LEAP materials and district information; engage families with various topics and opportunities available through the district. </li><li>Complete and submit all "Home Visit" forms in a timely manner, ensuring high data quality. </li><li>Exit families from program when appropriate. Ensure a post-survey is completed and filled out by each family at the 6-month or year mark, OR when family exits the program. </li><li>Complete weekly timesheets and mileage forms and submit to supervisor by deadline. Schedule is flexible based on scheduled family needs. </li><li>Attend all required LEAP meetings and District Attendance Team Meetings. </li><li>Maintain regular communication and connections back to students' schools in order to support school staff in continued family support and educational success. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>A high school education or the equivalent required, Associates or Four-Year Degree preferred </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work well with adults and children. </li><li>Must be organized and detail oriented. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual (English and Spanish) </li></ul> <p>SALARY: $32.00/hour</p> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Candidates from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p>
