<p>This Opportunity</p> <p>WSP USA is seeking a Senior Specialist, Ports and Marine Civil/Structural CADD Technician for our National Maritime Practice Group. This position can be based out of the following offices: Portland-OR, Raleigh-NC, Houston-TX, Tampa-FL.</p> <p>Provides technical design and Civil/Structural drafting support for the development, design, and/or construction of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls/bulkheads, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Ensures delivery of work products at a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.</p> <p>Your Impact</p> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with the engineer-in-charge and other technical professionals on assignments for phased design submittals. </li><li>Generate CADD drawings, sketches and renderings, on assigned projects, of various scale and/or complexity. </li><li>Use CADD, and/or similar software, to resolve design details or discrepancies, in close partnership with staff engineers. </li><li>Support accurate and concise design phase deliverables including: reports, civil and structural plans, models, sections, details, and material lists. </li><li>Keep up-to-date in technical knowledge of current and emerging practices for drafting. </li><li>Collect and compile data from various sources including: site surveys, historical documents, technical drawings, rough sketches, verbal and or written instructions, and other data matrices to support drafting and design activities. </li><li>Aid staff engineers on various technical design tasks, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance and quantity calculations, while ensuring designs meet required standard specifications. </li><li>Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work, including other technicians with specializations in: geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection, and architectural drafting. </li><li>Assure deliverables adhere to city code, state and federal regulations. </li><li>Maintain track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. </li><li>Show ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. </li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma. </li><li>Minimum of 9 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior drafting and design support experience. </li><li>Knowledge of drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques. </li><li>Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. </li><li>Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of geometry and mathematical concepts, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate standards or regulations. </li><li>Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. </li><li>Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. </li><li>Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. </li><li>Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools. </li><li>Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective and logical solution. </li><li>Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. </li><li>Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. </li><li>Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree, or other industry certification, in closely related fields. </li><li>Experience with REVIT. Ability to generate drawings, sketches and renderings, on assigned projects, of various scale and/or complexity. </li><li>Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D. </li><li>Experience with MicroStation </li><li>Experience with OpenRoads </li><li>Experience with AutoDesk ReCap or Autoturn </li><li>Experience with drafting for ports and marine structures (including rehabilitation and new design) </li></ul> <p>WSP Benefits:</p> <p>WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career.
