<p>The Energy Reliability Engineering team is seeking highly motivated Engineering Technicians to help develop Tesla's future in Energy Products and associated systems while continuously improving our existing products. Our Engineering Technicians work side by side with our Test Engineers to validate our world class products, iterate product and test designs, and push the boundaries of our products functionality and reliability. This work requires you to be extremely detail oriented, hold your work to the highest quality standards, and have the engineering drive to perpetually innovate. Our team's passion drives us to succeed, you must be self-motivated, eager for change, and thrive in ambiguity. Testing requires collaboration with many engineering teams, reliability, design, integration etc. A team player mentality and exceptional communication is essential.</p> <p>Tesla's Energy systems are constantly being improved, to maintain confidence we are producing the best possible products, accelerate innovation, and rapidly iterate designs, the test team needs to function efficiently and meticulously. This role combines engineering fundamentals and processes with a scientific approach to collecting data and analysis.</p> <ul> <li>Instrument and test engineering prototypes, including data acquisition and processing </li><li>Design and construct new test equipment and improve existing electrical & mechanical test setups </li><li>Maintain high standard of safety and organization in our lab </li><li>Maintain cutting edge, lab scale environmental test chambers </li><li>Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve mechanical & electrical issues </li><li>Integrate systems including AC/DC high and low voltages, structural components, coolant, CAN, and scripting </li><li>Provide careful, detail-oriented documentation during tests, and inspections </li><li>Communicate technical questions and findings in a concise and descriptive manner </li><li>Diagnose and troubleshoot test setup errors and failures </li><li>Willing to travel to support lab expansion at our facilities in Fremont, Gigafactories and future locations </li><li>Associate Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience </li><li>Valid High Voltage training certificate from an OEM or demonstrated working knowledge of battery powered systems?preferred </li><li>Mechanical fabrication skills, machine shop experience, expert with hand and power tools </li><li>Demonstrate mechanical aptitude - practice disassembly and reassembly of electromechanical systems without instructions </li><li>Experience with standard electronics lab tools including AC/DC meters, data acquisition, AC/DC power supplies </li><li>Experience making wiring harnesses by way of soldering, crimping, following wiring diagrams etc. </li><li>Methodical and diligent, works with a strong sense of quality and craft </li><li>Creative approach to problem solving, with willingness to learn and try new things </li><li>Self-directing, able to work across the entire organization to collect parts and information to execute job responsibilities </li><li>Excellent documentation and written communication; proficient using Microsoft Office, Excel </li></ul>
