<p>The Director oversees the department on a variety of student, faculty, budget, planning and personnel matters. The position is responsible for the planning, development, organization, scheduling, administration, and supervision of credit and non-credit programs designed for Emergency Medical Science (EMS), Emergency Medical Training (EMT) programs and personnel. Administrative oversight includes the coordination of development of long- and short-range plans for EMS located at the Henderson and Transylvania County campuses, evaluating and giving feedback to full- and part-time faculty on instructional performance, and development of initiatives to ensure faculty remain current in their respective disciplines as well as college policies and procedures. Building and maintaining relationships with community partners is crucial to the success of this position.</p> <ul> <li>Eligible candidates may qualify for a sign-on bonus. Working together, no elevation is too high, and no summit is unreachable.</p> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:</p> <p>Program Administration</p> <ul> <li> <p>Establishes and sets goals for the department with input from community stakeholders (e.g. Henderson and Transylvania County EMS), department faculty, coordinators, chairs, directors, Dean of Public Safety Training, Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development, the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), and all other appropriate stakeholders</p> </li><li> <p>Plans, develops, supervises, and evaluates all courses and programs within the Emergency Medical Science (EMS) programs for curriculum (CU) and continuing education (CE) in consultation with the Dean of Public Safety Training.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains course outlines, materials, and records, including textbook, equipment and software selection for CU and CE Emergency Medical Science programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures development and updating of articulation agreements as applicable to program areas</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates and manages required contracts and external program agreements</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures compliance with all college policies and procedures including those related to student safety</p> </li><li> <p>Works with all public safety faculty coordinators to ensure safety protocols for all training exercises are enforced, evaluated, and audited on a regular basis</p> </li><li> <p>Holds all faculty accountable to ensure safety protocols for all training exercises are enforced, evaluated, and audited on a regular basis</p> </li><li> <p>Develops, monitors, and plans effective utilization of budget resources for the department in consultation with the Dean of Public Safety Training</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates, manages, and schedules overall facility and program equipment/supply resources for the department</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and maintains contracts/agreements/placement options for required educational and field experiences</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates with the NCCC's EMS Training manager, OEMS, and CAAHEP/CoAEMSP standard to develop and manage new and expanding training projects</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures advisory committees meet at least twice per year in all assigned areas</p> </li></ul> <p>Accreditation and Assessment</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ensures that accreditation standards for assigned curriculum programs and faculty meet the criteria of the appropriate accreditation agency(s)</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains and seeks adherence to all CAAHEP/CoAEMSP standards</p> </li></ul> <p>Personnel</p> <ul> <li> <p>Recruits and selects part-time instructors and participates in the recruitment and selection process for full-time instructors in assigned areas</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures that classroom observations (both online and seated) of full- and part-time faculty are completed according to the appropriate accrediting body (e.g. NCOEMS, CoAEMSP) and other applicable standards</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and coordinate faculty development and training activities</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures all required documentation is collected for new hires prior to the first day of work in partnership with Human Resources and the Director of Continuing Education Operations</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures all Continuing Education class files are free from errors prior to submission to the Director of Continuing Education Operations</p> </li></ul> <p>Marketing and Recruiting</p> <ul> <li> <p>Recruit at local high schools in Henderson and Transylvania Counties</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures that marketing, recruiting, and retention efforts are expectations for all members of the department and program areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains EMS college website for up-to-date contact information, course schedules, events and marketing.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the creation and maintenance of brochures, mailings, databases, and directories as needed</p> </li></ul> <p>Student Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Advise students concerning course requirements, long-range academic plans, and career opportunities </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintains relationships with local EMS departments with regular visits; attends EMS Coordinator meetings; establishes and conducts working relationships with local EMS systems</p> </li><li> <p>Represent the College at appropriate meetings, activities, and conferences</p> </li></ul> <p>Instruction</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide instruction for Emergency Medical Science (EMS) in curriculum (CU) and/or continuing education (CE) as needed to help the continuity of classes and in case of absence of the primary instructor</p> </li><li> <p>Work assignments may include day, evening, weekend in both Henerson and Transylvania Counties</p> </li><li> <p>Ensuring clinical placements for all students</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ensures compliance with policies of the College, the NC Community College System, and applicable </li></ul> <p>State and Federal agencies</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintains technical competencies necessary to the job function.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves on campus and community committees</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Public Safety Training or Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline area of general education course work required in programs offered by the College. A Master's Degree in a related discipline is preferred.</p> <p>Experience: Minimum of 3 years of verifiable teaching experience at the paramedic level. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Previous community college experience preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge and Skills: Must maintain credentials necessary for assigned program areas; possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated proficiency using Google Suite or similar products, database systems, college email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must maintain current NCOEMS Level II Paramedic Instructor and NCOEMS Paramedic credentials</p> </li><li> <p>A strong commitment to safety</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.</p>
