<p>Overview</p> <p>Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Elwood, KS to join our team.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. </li><li>Supports all labor activity involved in maintaining a fleet of civil and railroad equipment. </li><li>Electrical, and hydraulic work on civil and railroad equipment. </li><li>Conduct preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair of equipment as required. </li><li>Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner. </li><li>Ability to learn new skill sets on the job as needed. </li><li>Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience. </li><li>Must be 21 years of age. </li><li>Experience with electrical, gas and diesel engines, and hydraulics. </li><li>Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics. </li><li>Class B License is a plus but not required. </li><li>Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. </li><li>Must provide own basic hand tools. </li><li>Must be proficient in the English language. </li><li>Must have 3-5 years mechanic experience. </li><li>Experience in welding is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. </li><li>Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position. </li><li>Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position </li><li>This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle. </li><li>Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces. </li><li>Must be able to walk up and down the length property, a total of 600 yards. </li><li>Must be able to ascend an 8 ft step ladder. </li><li>Must be able to ascend 24 stairs while carrying up to 30 pounds of equipment in hands. </li><li>Be able to crouch entire body below a 36-inch space. </li><li>Must be able to access a space with a width of 24 inches. </li><li>Grasp or squeeze various equipment and tools requiring forces up to 40 pounds up to 20 times an hour. </li><li>Must be able to lift a 50 pound bag full of equipment overhead. </li><li>Must be able to hold up to 40 pounds of equipment overhead for 30 seconds. </li><li>Required to assume a bent over posture and hold for 60 seconds 20 times per hour. </li><li>Be able to squat down and stay in that position for 2 minutes. </li><li>Lift parts weighing up to 100 pounds from ground to chest height and horizontally transfer it 4 feet. </li><li>Carry a weight of 100 pounds a distance of 10 feet. </li><li>Must be able to push hydraulic hoses into couplers, using upper body only, requiring 50 pounds of force, up to 10 times an hour. </li><li>Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. </li><li>Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position. </li></ul> <p>Safety:</p> <ul> <li>Herzog is nationally recognized for its excellent corporate safety record which results from all employees at all levels, in all positions adhering to established policies and procedures.
