<p>POSITION: Elementary Literacy Instructional Coach</p> <p>This position is for a Literacy Instructional Coach to be utilized at Snow Hill Middle School School to foster the growth of teachers' literacy practices through non-evaluative, ongoing, and job-embedded professional learning.</p> <p>LOCATION: Snow Hill Middle School</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:</p> <ul> <li>Successfully engage in coaching core competencies and aligned actions identified in the WCPS Coaching Model including, but not limited to: </li><li>facilitating structured Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that support teachers with internalizing curriculum and analyzing student data; </li><li>engaging in consistent coaching cycles (non-evaluative) that include planning, implementation, observation, feedback, and identification of next steps; </li><li>collecting and analyzing implementation and student achievement data to guide professional learning needs and school improvement planning. </li><li>Assist in the effective implementation of district literacy curricula and evidence-based interventions, ensuring alignment with state standards and science-based literacy instruction. </li><li>Collaborate with school and district leadership to support established goals which may include extended day and summer hours for professional development. </li><li>Design and deliver effective professional learning for teachers, at the school and district levels, tailored to the instructional needs of students, development of inclusive, science-aligned literacy practices, and the foundations of reading. </li><li>Provide ongoing classroom support and feedback to teachers to ensure understanding and effective implementation of curriculum. </li><li>Coach teachers in early identification and intervention using systems of assessment and the MTSS framework. </li><li>Attend regular meetings with the Coordinator of Literacy related to literacy coaching, literacy curriculum, MTSS, etc. </li><li>Complete tasks assigned by the Coordinator of Literacy and school administration related to ongoing curriculum development and planned professional learning. </li><li>Collaborate with the Coordinator of Literacy and school administration to create agendas for professional learning being hosted at the school. </li><li>Monitor various online platforms and resources to provide student performance data to school leaders and coordinator. </li><li>Support teachers with parent communication and family involvement. </li><li>Plan for and facilitate literacy events for families and the school community. </li><li>Assist teachers in developing UDL lessons aligned to the district's literacy curriculum. </li><li>Participate in professional development and coursework related to literacy components and curriculum </li><li>Report to the Principal and the Coordinator of Literacy. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Standard Professional Certificate. </li><li>At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience. </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of: </li><li>Components of science-aligned literacy programming and implementation, </li><li>Reading development, assessment, instruction, and intervention </li><li>Systematic, explicit instructional processes, </li><li>Instructional coaching approaches and strategies for teaching adult learners, </li><li>Maryland State College- and Career-Readiness Standards for English Language Arts, </li><li>Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework, and </li><li>Data analysis and application. </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage a schedule, maintain coaching documentation, and provide professional development. </li><li>Effective interpersonal and communication skills with adult learners and students. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Apple devices is desired. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS:</p> <p>Demonstration of the following expertise is crucial:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to deliver systematic, explicit, instruction, </li><li>Ability to effectively prioritize, schedule, manage, and organize multiple daily tasks to achieve goals, </li><li>Ability to administer and interpret reading assessments and use data to determine professional development needs, and recommend changes to improve school-wide and/or classroom instructional practices, </li><li>Ability to rapidly acquire and apply new skills and information, </li><li>Ability to provide effective instructional feedback, </li><li>Ability to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions, and </li><li>Ability to use effective written and oral communication skills, including while engaging in difficult and candid conversations with a variety nature of the challenges, and </li><li>Desire to grow professionally. </li></ul> <p>DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:</p> <p>This is a 188-day position and salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale.</p>
