<p>Alternative Learning Environment Teacher Job Description</p> <p>Job Description: ALE Teacher</p> <p>Location: Lion's MANE (Meeting All Needs Everyday) - located at Gravette Upper Elementary</p> <p>Reports to: Principal or assigned supervisor</p> <p>Supervisory responsibilities: Classroom students, aides and volunteers</p> <p>Job Summary: Classroom Instruction</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)</p> <ul> <li>Teach district approved curriculum </li><li>Develop differentiated lessons appropriate for ALE students; small group, one- </li></ul> <p>on-one, whole group, etc…</p> <ul> <li>Provide nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that </li></ul> <p>encourages student responsibility</p> <ul> <li>Participate in student placement and transition conferences </li><li>Assist in developing individualized Student Action Plans (SAP) </li><li>Maintain accurate student records </li><li>Adapt and modify instruction based on students' emotional, behavioral, </li></ul> <p>academic and social status</p> <ul> <li>Assist administration in implementing district policies and guidelines that govern </li></ul> <p>student behavior and safety</p> <ul> <li>Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment </li><li>Collaborate with school and district personnel to ensure student success is </li></ul> <p>maximized. Collaborate on resources, goals, objectives, etc…</p> <ul> <li>Communicate with administration about classroom concerns </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress </li><li>Partner with school counseling services and mental health providers in order to </li></ul> <p>positively affect student success</p> <ul> <li>Attend required staff and district meetings </li><li>Participate in school wide events </li><li>Complete and participate in required building and district professional </li></ul> <p>development activities</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Arkansas teacher license. </li><li>Highly Qualified Teacher, Multi-Subject. </li><li>Experience and/or training in the guidance of at-risk youth. </li><li>Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of behavior modification techniques. </li><li>A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. </li><li>Experience teaching in elementary school. </li><li>Knowledge of basic academic development. </li><li>Established pattern of professional growth. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge and Ability:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of modern teaching methods and techniques. </li><li>Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing sufficient to </li></ul> <p>express ideas, thoughts, lesson material and instructions clearly to</p> <p>students, community and staff.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to collaborate effectively on inter- and intra-agency levels. </li><li>Ability to assess individual needs, establish realistic and appropriate goals </li></ul> <p>and objectives, and design and implement a program for each student.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to plan and conduct a system of continuous evaluation of each </li></ul> <p>student's progress.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain suitable classroom control. </li><li>Ability to maintain suitable learning environment including appropriate </li></ul> <p>planning and organization of classroom, and provide appropriate materials.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to keep accurate class records and submit reports in a timely </li></ul> <p>manner.</p> <p>Essential Functions of this position are, but not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Assess individual needs of each student. </li><li>Establish realistic and appropriate goals and objectives for each student. </li><li>Consult with appropriate support personnel. </li><li>Maintain open communication with parents, agencies, and community </li></ul> <p>groups.</p> <ul> <li>Provide adequate information for substitutes. </li><li>Maintain responsibility for the school facility. </li><li>Follow specific standards, policies, and procedures of the building, district, </li></ul> <p>and state.</p> <ul> <li>Make decisions regarding health and safety needs of students, equipment, </li></ul> <p>and facility.</p> <ul> <li>Develop instructional schedule and performs assigned teaching </li></ul> <p>responsibilities.</p> <ul> <li>Direct aides. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Facility to sit a desk, conference table or in meeting rooms of various </li></ul> <p>configurations for extended periods of time.</p> <ul> <li>Facility and stamina to sit and stand alternately for up to 7 ½ hours. </li><li>Physical strength and emotional stamina sufficient to maintain control of </li></ul> <p>behaviorally disordered students.</p> <ul> <li>Facility to see and read lessons, books, rules, policies and other printed </li></ul> <p>matter, with or without vision aids.</p> <ul> <li>Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and to hear </li></ul> <p>and understand speech on the telephone.</p> <ul> <li>Manual dexterity to operate a telephone, and operate audio-visual and </li></ul> <p>other classroom equipment and teaching aids using both hands.</p> <ul> <li>Physical agility to lift 25 pound to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist </li></ul> <p>height: and to bend, to stoop, to walk on uneven terrain, to climb stairs,</p> <p>and to reach overhead.</p> <p>NOTE: This list of essential functions and physical requirements is not exhaustive</p> <p>and may be supplemented as necessary in accordance with requirements</p> <p>of the job.</p>
