<p>Overview</p> <p>The Opportunity:</p> <p>General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world's foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an IT Software Engineer to join the organization within the Information Technology (EBIT) Department. The current business needs and demands are ever rapidly changing and require an agile, flexible, analytical candidate to join EBIT.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>In the IT Systems Software position, you will be expected to ask questions, communicate openly, and get out of your seat and comfort zone. While this is NOT a Software Development role, the successful candidate will possess the technical aptitude required to work closely with Software Developers</p> <p>The responsibilities of the IT Sottware Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Analyze and learn business software and processes. </li><li>Understand and translate business needs into system requirements. </li><li>Investigate data to understand and document issues/enhancements. </li><li>Work with various software development teams to drive implementation of innovative software solutions. </li><li>Drive cross functional teams and challenge the status quo. </li><li>Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets. </li><li>Utilize verification and validation techniques to ensure software deliverables are high quality and meet customer needs. </li><li>Provide IT SME support toward highly visible or critical production issues. </li></ul> <p>This IT Software Engineer position will be focused on application interactions with procurement business systems, general status protocols in Teamcenter among other areas of the enterprise applications. Some core areas of responsibilities will include supporting management of procurement feeds from Teamcenter, Single Parts Master (SPM) and Common Parts Catalog (CPC) downloads from Teamcenter, TCUA.ebom tables and Hull Extension utilities in Teamcenter.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer related technologies, Systems Management, or Applied Mathematics </li><li>0-4 years of related work experience (entry-level) </li><li>Experience in requirements gathering and documentation </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with business/systems analysis. </li><li>Knowledge of verification and validation techniques. </li><li>PLM experience. </li><li>Experience with Jira and Confluence </li><li>Experience with Agile development concepts </li><li>Software development life cycle </li><li>Experience in writing SQL queries to interrogate intricate details of large datasets </li><li>Experience in creating and reviewing documentation, including operating procedures, training documents, and troubleshooting guides, for shop floor personnel or quality assurance inspectors </li><li>A forward thinking mindset to proactively identify opportunities to streamlines processes, improve data integrity and enhance system performance </li><li>Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and drive projects to successful completion </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Be willing to learn / open-minded. </li><li>Be self-motivated and ambitious. </li><li>Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Have critical thinking and problem solving skills. </li><li>Have good attention to detail. </li><li>Have strong oral and written skills. </li><li>Be organized, with good planning skills. </li><li>Have project management skills. </li></ul>
