Under general supervision, manages and coordinates the comprehensive administrative and operational functions of athletic and fitness programming including camps, classes, leagues, group exercise, personal training, special events and activities at city facilities.</p> <p>Benefits & Total Rewards:</p> <p>Our City team members are our most valuable asset! Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.</p> <ul> <li>Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality athletic/fitness programs and services to the community. </li><li>Manages assigned team members and activities to maintain City facilities in a safe condition and to meet community needs; provides leadership to assure that facilities are maintained and programs are coordinated in alignment with the City's strategic objectives, State and Federal laws, and within allocated budget. </li><li>Manages and adjusts the group exercise schedule as needed; keeping accurate attendance records as well as evaluating fitness trends to ensure the classes meet the community needs. Assists in the delivery of classes when needed. </li><li>Manages athletic/fitness programming and special event coordination and setup; recommends additional programming and events to ensure program growth based on customer preference and trends. </li><li>Hires, trains and evaluates assigned team members, including recreation team, personal trainers and group fitness instructors; develops team members' skills and conducts performance evaluations; meets regularly with team members to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues; reviews the work of assigned team members to assure the quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities. </li><li>Develops procedures, forms, guidelines, and training programs for all assigned team members; develops and maintains records, systems, and procedures, as well as written and oral reports and presentations. </li><li>Provide leadership and direction in equipment purchases, replacement management, and long range planning. Assist in developing equipment specifications and assist supervisors with equipment ordering and replacement. </li><li>Work closely with the City Communications Team to develop, coordinate, and manage marketing efforts for fitness and sports programs, events, and website updates. Approve and assist in the design of promotional materials including flyers, bulletin boards, incentive programs, and special events to ensure consistent and effective messaging. </li><li>Evaluate Fitness and Athletics programs, rules and policies through participant evaluations and team members input. Complete monthly report responsibilities. </li><li>Works closely with athletic and recreation organizations, community groups, vendors, and regional sports and recreation associations to promote City programs, coordinate operations and facilitate community participation. </li><li>Responds to all requests for information; provides information to other athletic/recreation program managers and organizations; researches athletic issues, and recommends solutions. </li><li>Provide outstanding service for the community; professionally handle customer service issues through verbal and written communication. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or required. </li></ul> <p>Your education and expertise that matter most for this role:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field is preferred; AND three (3) years athletic programming, personal training/Group Fitness Instructor experience AND two (2) years supervisory experience required.</p> <p>Required Licenses or Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. </li><li>Must possess a Personal Training Certification </li><li>Must possess or be able to obtain within 1 year of employment: Community First Aid and Safety/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED). </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Principles and practices of athletic/fitness programs and personal training program management. </li><li>Operational characteristics, services and activities of fitness center and recreation facility management. </li><li>Federal and State safety laws and regulations. </li><li>Principles and practices of administrative management, including personnel rules, project management, cash handling and reporting, cost accounting, budgeting and employee supervision. </li></ul> <p>Required Skill in:</p> <ul> <li>Promoting and enforcing safe work practices. </li><li>Supervising team members, and delegating tasks and authority. </li><li>Interpreting customer and facility needs and solving customer service and public relations issues. </li><li>Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, demands and events. </li><li>Analyzing problems, providing alternatives, identifying solutions in support of established goals, projecting consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations. </li><li>Responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources. </li><li>Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, State and Federal agencies, and the general public. </li><li>Operating and maintaining a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software and communications equipment. </li><li>Effective, clear and concise communication, both verbally and in writing. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands / Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Work is performed in an athletic center environment; outdoors in all weather conditions; is subject to sitting, standing, bending and reaching for extended periods of time; and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. </li><li>Must be able to work irregular hours including weekends, holidays and evenings. </li><li>May be required to work immediately before, during or immediately after an emergency or disaster. </li></ul>
