<p>Job Title: Unit Secretary</p> <p>Location: Jersey City Medical Center</p> <p>Department Name: Medical-Surgical Unit-I</p> <p>Req #: 0000238013</p> <p>Status: Hourly</p> <p>Shift: Day</p> <p>Pay Range: $17.78 - $17.78 per hour</p> <p>Pay Transparency:</p> <p>The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.</p> <p>The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.</p> <p>Job Overview:</p> <p>Assists the Director of Patient Care and the staff nurses by performing specific clerical functions for assigned areas.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High School graduate </li><li>Successful completion of all orientation Programs </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Clerical Experience to include typing and filing preferred </li></ul> <p>Scheduling Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Shift- 7:00am- 3:00pm </li><li>Monday-Friday including every other weekends/holidays </li><li>Part Time- Day </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Answer telephones properly and relays information to appropriate person </li><li>Assembles and disassembles designted charts appropriately </li><li>Assist nurses by picking up and delivering blood, blood derivatives, specimens, medications and charts as required </li><li>Assists as directed with PI activities such as data collections </li><li>Ensures a safe environment in aspects of care, equipment and treatment </li><li>Identifies and reports potential and actual patient safety issues </li><li>Keeps medical record complete and in order </li><li>Maintains communication with the Bed Controller and cooperates with room assignments </li><li>Notifies appropriate departments of patient expirations and attached death certificate to medical record for attending MD signatures </li><li>Notifies nurse upon arrival of an admission- direct admission-ensures all parts of patient records are properly identified by use of patient identification lab </li><li>Participates in unit based patient satisfaction </li><li>Hourly rounding-inpatients rooms, assist patients as needed water, get assistance </li><li>Greeting patients and family on admissions </li><li>Answer call bells as needed </li><li>Assist in discharge process </li><li>Performs environmental rounds on a daily basis, including patient and non-patients' areas </li><li>Performs required clerical work relating to the admissions, transfer and discharge of a patient </li><li>Secures needed unit services as directed by Director of Patient Care and/or Assistant Director of Patient Care (e.g., maintenance, housekeeping, security) </li></ul> <p>Other Duties:</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
