Position Summary</p> <p>The Transportation Driver, CDL, is a key member of the team at Hebrew SeniorLife, providing essential transportation services for a diverse community of older adults, including those living independently, in assisted living, or within the healthcare center. The driver plays an important role in supporting a comprehensive transportation program, which includes a 7-day-a-week, 19-hour-a-day employee shuttle service, on-demand transportation within our 160+ acre community, resident medical appointments, field trips for assisted and independent living residents, and other miscellaneous trips, such as shopping and memorial services.</p> <p>Drivers are responsible for ensuring personal and passenger safety, strictly adhering to all traffic laws on and off campus, maintaining punctuality, and preparing vehicles ahead of time, particularly during extreme weather conditions. They should provide a positive experience for all passengers and maintain a high standard of service that aligns with the mission of Hebrew SeniorLife.</p> <p>II. Core Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Always wear a seat belt while driving. </li><li>Maintain a professional appearance at all times. </li><li>Comply with all safety rules and regulations. </li><li>Keep the NBOC transportation vehicle clean and tidy. </li><li>Be familiar with the geography of Boston, Massachusetts. </li><li>Demonstrate professionalism, proactivity, collaboration, and a results-oriented attitude. </li><li>Maintain an optimistic and positive demeanor. </li><li>Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Display sound judgment and good intuition, with a sense of humor. </li><li>Adapt to changing priorities effectively. </li><li>Obtain BLS, EMT, or First Responder certification within six months of hire, certifications provided in-house (recommended). </li><li>Be motivated to learn and flexible to change. </li><li>Remain calm and think clearly during emergency situations. </li><li>Possess strong interpersonal skills. </li><li>Work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision. </li><li>Be creative and proactive while maintaining discipline and focus in managing workload and priorities. </li></ul> <p>III. Position Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate hospitality and kindness; actively greet and assist passengers on and off the bus. </li><li>Assist residents with mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and walkers, in boarding and exiting transportation vehicles. </li><li>Follow written requisitions or verbal instructions to complete tasks. </li><li>Prioritize work requests based on urgency. </li><li>Follow standard safety regulations at all times. </li><li>Ensure all passengers, including employees and private caregivers, are properly dropped off and screened at main entrances. </li><li>Assist with other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator or Security Administration Report any unsafe or broken equipment immediately to the supervisor. </li><li>Prioritize customer service to ensure residents and families receive high-quality care in a safe, compassionate environment. </li><li>Maintain the confidentiality and security of all facility and patient-related information in accordance with HIPAA. </li><li>Be available for emergency call-ins as required. </li><li>Arrive 30 minutes before a scheduled trip to prepare the vehicle, especially in extreme weather conditions (e.g., snowstorms). </li><li>Record starting and ending mileage and times on a daily sheet. </li><li>Ensure all required vehicle inspections are performed annually. </li><li>Cover all scheduled trips; if unable to do so, notify the Transportation Coordinator or Security Administration </li><li>Report any vehicle issues or needed repairs to the Transportation Coordinator or Security Administration </li><li>Use the phone only when necessary and vehicle is not in active service; no personal calls are allowed. </li><li>Complete special projects as assigned. </li><li>Schedule all vehicle maintenance and inspections. </li><li>Ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle fleet. </li></ul> <p>IV. Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Valid Massachusetts Driver's License with CDL Class C or higher and passenger endorsement. </li><li>Excellent driving record with a clean accident history, as documented by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. </li><li>Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English. </li><li>Minimum of three years of related work experience. </li><li>Motivated to learn and flexible to adapt to changes in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment. </li><li>Computer literacy, including experience with databases, Windows, Word, and Excel. </li></ul> <p>V.
