<p>The System Administrator Plans, develops, implements, monitors, and maintains the facility's Server Hardware and Software infrastructure. Assists with the training of staff in LAN/WAN/computer usage. Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <ol> <li>Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="2"> <li>Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, file servers, ethernet networks and other related equipment, devices, and systems. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="3"> <li>Systems administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support). </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="4"> <li>Performs and/or oversees software and application development, installation, and upgrades. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="5"> <li>Investigates user problems, identifies their source, determines possible solutions, tests and implements solutions. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="6"> <li>Establishes and implements a preventive maintenance schedule for the facility's server environment. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="7"> <li>Performs minor repairs to the facility's LAN, WAN, PC's, and related equipment as necessary. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="8"> <li>Plans and implements network security, including applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="9"> <li>Oversees the backup of the LAN and WAN on a daily basis. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="10"> <li>Coordinates the provision of outside services for major repairs to the LAN, WAN, PC's and related equipment as necessary or directed. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="11"> <li>Assists staff with software application problems. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="12"> <li>Troubleshoots systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="13"> <li>Identifies utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="14"> <li>Establishes and performs maintenance programs following company and vendor standards. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="15"> <li>Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="16"> <li>Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="17"> <li>Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="18"> <li>Maintains site licenses for department/organization. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="19"> <li>Investigates, recommends and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system availability. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="20"> <li>Assists personnel of other departments as a computer resource. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="21"> <li>Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="22"> <li>Develops, implements, and monitors documentation necessary to maintain the integrity of the facility's server environment. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="23"> <li>Implements security measures as directed by the CIO or Director of Information Services. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="24"> <li>Answers the Help Desk Lines during business hours and provides technical support to the user community while performing help desk assignment. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="25"> <li>Properly logs in to Help Desk tracking system all calls received while performing Help Desk assignment. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="26"> <li>Recognizes when an issue needs to be escalated to management for problem resolution or as a matter of established policy. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="27"> <li>Answers all telephone inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="28"> <li>Works in conjunction with other staff members to plan, implement and maintain all IP Telephony systems within the organization. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="29"> <li>Monitors and archives all system log files for future reference and in accordance with Local, State and Federal guidelines. </li></ol> </li><li> <ol start="30"> <li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ol> </li></ul> <p>Formal education required:</p> <p>Bachelors Degree preferred, Computer Science major preferred.</p> <p>Previous experience required:</p> <p>5 years experience in PC/LAN/WAN.</p> <p>5 years experience managing networks.</p> <p>5 years experience server administration.</p>
