<p>This position is temporarily located out of Bethel, CT, with relocation to the greater Atlanta Metro Atlanta at a later date, expected timing summer 2026. Relocation support will be provided and sent upon acceptance of the offer.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Product Engineer with a strong background in Electro/Mechanical hardware design. The ideal candidate will have experience in design and manufacture of small devices and components in both engineering plastics and metals, demonstrate an understanding of FEA and design for manufacture principles. In addition, they will have at least 10 years of experience in the field and a proven track record of successful project execution. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative mechanical and electronic systems.</p> <p>The successful candidate will be someone that seeks to push the envelope and delight their customers through the form, fit and function of their creations. Your work is an artform and it is an expression of who you are. You see the world as systems of equations that evolve over time, and your designs are meant to last and blend in your personal aesthetic. Your desk has a collection of many things in various states of disassembly because you want to learn from others designs and you appreciate unique approaches to common problems.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the design and development of IOT Products specifically the Mechanical product design for various projects with integration of electronics hardware to deliver a holistic product solution. </li><li>Collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of hardware and electronics, including Wire routing and harness design. </li><li>Conduct feasibility studies, Tolerance analysis, stackups and FEA analysis for risk assessments of new designs and technologies., including extensive GD&T work (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure long term reliability and robust design. </li><li>Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly. </li><li>Perform simulations and analyses to validate design concepts and optimize performance. </li><li>Develop a robust testing plan to validate mechanical product design, organize internal design reviews and oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of Mechanical hardware and electronic form, fit and function. </li><li>Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations throughout the design and development process. </li><li>Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members. </li><li>Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, hardware, and electronics design. </li><li>Work with CM to deliver a manufacturable solution including DFM support. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. </li><li>Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on hardware and electronics design. </li><li>Must understand the principles of part design for injection molding, experience with mold/part analysis tools would be an advantage. </li><li>Must have proven experience with specific rapid prototyping methods as quick turn is important. </li><li>Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL). </li><li>Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of combined mechanical and electronic systems. </li><li>Must have Strong understanding of electronic components, wire harnesses, printed circuit boards, thermal considerations and electrical distances. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks efficiently. </li><li>Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to mechanical and electronic design for the consumer market. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in the industrial & consumer electronics industries. </li><li>Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware development. </li><li>Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection. </li><li>Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus. </li><li>Experience designing battery cavities. </li></ul> <p>Duracell is the world's leading manufacturer and marketer of high-performance alkaline batteries, complemented by a portfolio of high quality, market leading specialty, rechargeable and professional batteries.
