<p>The Supervisor/Manager of Software Engineering is responsible for delivering on the vision, strategy, and operations related to applications enabling Agent, Client, and Associate facing technologies and capabilities for SECURA Insurance. This role involves developing partnerships with business partners, understanding application and business processes, implementing and supporting production systems, managing application change & release processes, and interfacing with external service providers to ensure delivery excellence. Additionally, associate development, recognition, and performance management are key competencies required for this role.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Lead a team of IT professionals in application delivery, support, and service for business departments and agencies </li><li>Manage the team responsible for various applications, including those written in COBOL, CICS, DB2, .Net, C#, SQL Server, and VB.NET </li><li>Manage the intake, analysis, resolution, and customer interaction for IT requests related to these product lines </li><li>Provide leadership in creating strategic roadmaps focused on business and technology needs </li><li>Develop and report on KPIs for IT Leadership and the business that reflect our measures of success </li><li>Partner with multiple business leaders to understand and deliver on their needs </li><li>Oversee support and training in the use of applications, including orientation for new staff and specialized training </li><li>Manage relationships with software vendors, escalating issues and advocating for fixes/patches </li><li>Oversee the evaluation and recommendations on vendor hardware, software, and/or services </li><li>Serve as a project manager or assist existing project managers for large-scale initiatives </li><li>Ensure the team complies with departmental standards (e.g., security, compliance, and application development standards) </li><li>Provide Career Guidance, Coaching, and Mentorship </li><li>Lead Agile transformation efforts, coach teams on Agile methodologies, and foster a culture of iterative delivery </li><li>Balance team priorities with enterprise goals, promote reuse and scalability, and contribute to system and/or architecture decisions with the organization in mind </li><li>Drive Tactical Execution to achieve strategic results </li><li>Build and Nurture High-Performing Teams </li><li>Identify Opportunities, Mitigate Risks, and Drive Continuous Improvement </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>ESSENTIAL:</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering business value through software development teams or cross-functional technology initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. </li><li>5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise application development, including leading teams through the full software development lifecycle. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field </li><li>Strong understanding of modern application development methodologies, including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures. </li><li>Demonstrated success in aligning technology solutions with business strategy, driving measurable outcomes. </li><li>Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives effectively. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, foster collaboration, and build trust across teams. </li><li>Proven ability to present technical and strategic concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership. </li><li>Team-oriented mindset, with a focus on mentorship, knowledge sharing, and cultivating a high-performing culture. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED:</p> <ul> <li>Agile certification or demonstrable Agile experience. </li><li>Project Management certification or experience managing projects. </li><li>Change Management certification or experience leading teams through organizational change </li><li>Experience with at least one development language </li><li>Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including automation, monitoring, and infrastructure as code. </li><li>Experience managing vendor relationships and IT contracts, including negotiation and performance oversight. </li><li>Industry experience in insurance, preferably in Property and Casualty </li></ul> <p>At SECURA, we are transforming the insurance experience by putting authenticity at the forefront of everything we do.
