<p>Office of Juvenile Justice</p> <p>Jetson Center for Youth</p> <p>15200 Old Scenic Hwy., Baker, La 70714</p> <p>The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a confident, mission-driven Corrections Lieutenant Colonel to lead staff, strengthen facility culture, and support high-quality therapeutic programming for youth. This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accountability and teamwork, and is passionate about shaping a safe, structured, and treatment-focused facility.</p> <p>As a Corrections Lieutenant Colonel, you'll guide frontline staff, reinforce LAMOD principles, and help create an environment where youth can grow and staff can succeed. If you're energized by meaningful leadership, committed to professional excellence, and ready to make a lasting impact across units, this role offers a powerful opportunity to lead with purpose.</p> <p>Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR</p> </li><li> <p>One year of experience in any field; OR</p> </li><li> <p>Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.</p> </li></ol> <p>One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.</p> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.</p> <p>In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.</p> <p>Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.</p> <p>Possession of a current driver's license.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervise staff, assign workloads, provide coaching and performance feedback, complete evaluations, and issue corrective actions when needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Observe Group Leaders in the dorms, provide feedback on professionalism and youth interaction, and reinforce a positive, treatment-focused culture aligned with Louisiana Model for Secure Care (LAMOD).</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate the Skills Building Program and ensure staff follow policy, maintain youth portfolios, and support program effectiveness.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with the Recreation Therapist to plan and implement recreation and incentive-based activities consistent with LAMOD principles.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide ongoing staff training, including pre-service, in-service, senior assessments, and one-on-one coaching; serve as a LAMOD trainer.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure Group Leaders complete required LAMOD assessments, compliance tools, documentation, and meeting participation.</p> </li><li> <p>Support policy development, long-range planning, and facility-wide LAMOD implementation.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct and participate in audits, set deadlines for action plans, review submissions, and keep leadership informed of progress.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare accurate reports, maintain strong communication, and assist with special projects as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position-Specific Details:</p> <p>Work Location: This vacancy is located at the Jetson Center for Youth in Baker, Louisiana.</p> <p>Appointment Type: Full-time, probational</p> <p>The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)</p> <p>The Office of Juvenile Justice will receive a list of eligible applicants ONLY from the people who respond to this posting.</p> <p>How To Apply:</p> <p>No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.</p> <p>To apply for this vacancy, click on the "Apply" link above and complete an electronic application, which can be used for this vacancy as well as future job opportunities.
