We are offering a $1,500 New Employee Bonus which will be awarded into three segments:</p> <ul> <li>$500 after completion of 3 months of employment </li><li>$500 after completion of 6 months of employment </li><li>$500 after completion of 1 year of employment </li></ul> <p>Also, you will get a $2.00 shift differential for working in our PMIC program plus $1.00 shift differential for working between 4:pm-9pm M-F and $1.00 for working Saturday and Sunday 9am-9pm.</p> <p>Children's Square is investing in our future. Join our growing team as a Youth Support Specialist specifically in our PMIC facility focusing on providing services to children and teenagers with a traumatic background. This role includes ensuring safety, skill-building, processing and support, behavioral management, and fostering effective communication within the team.</p> <p>You will be cross-trained to work in the Shelter and our Crisis Stabilization unit as needed.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide personalized reinforcement to promote adaptive behaviors. </li><li>Utilize behavior management techniques and de-escalation training. </li><li>Assist clients in self-identifying and self-correcting behaviors. </li><li>Establish a therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect. </li><li>Follow medication management guidelines. </li><li>Serve as a positive role model and agent of change for the youth. </li><li>Complete timely documentation of services, including daily case notes. </li><li>Conduct room checks to ensure children are present and safe. Although children are sleeping for most of the shift, you are expected to remain awake and present. </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 21 years of age. </li><li>1+ years experience working with at-risk youth REQUIRED. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Must have a passion for helping youth in crisis. </li><li>Valid driver's license and a good driving record. </li><li>Must be able to pass criminal history, child abuse, and sex offender checks and complete a physical and TB test. </li></ul> <p>Challenges of the Role:</p> <ul> <li>Emotional Resilience: The work is emotionally demanding, as you will be caring for youth who have experienced severe trauma, including physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and abandonment. This can manifest in challenging behaviors such as anger, distrust, withdrawal, and aggression. </li><li>Behavioral Challenges: Youth in the shelter may exhibit a range of challenging behaviors, including verbal and physical aggression, running away, self-harm, and defiance. Managing these behaviors requires patience, consistency, and a deep understanding of trauma and its effects. </li><li>Crisis Situations: You will regularly encounter crisis situations that require quick thinking and effective intervention to ensure the safety of all residents. This can include breaking up fights, calming a distressed child, or dealing with a runaway attempt. </li><li>Ever-Changing Environment: You must be flexible and willing to accept a dynamic working environment.
