<p>This Maintenance Mechanic position is located within the Facilities Management Services at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in West Haven, CT. The employee performs a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. The duties are performed within at least two trades.</p> <p>Major Duties include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Developing patterns and laying out, cutting, forming, joining, assembling, and installing items such as heating, air conditioning, and ventilating pipes; conduits; drying ovens; airframes; air scoops; control and flying surfaces; metal furniture; and other items with combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves and planes; and </li><li>Installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of complex equipment, and systems involving power boilers with complicated components, critical requirements and rigid tolerances; Installing modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment; Installing, recognizing the causes of faulty equipment and making repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering and circulating. </li><li>Performing other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Rotating Days, 11:30 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.</p> <p>Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic/PD478-03164-A</p> <p>Physical Requirements: The work requires a considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions.
