<p>AFM - Nurse II</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Registered and licensed to practice in Manitoba with a Bachelor of Nursing (BN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) </li><li>Knowledge of College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba standards, Scope of practice documents, Regulated Health Professionals Act, PHIA, Mental Health Act code of ethics </li><li>Applicant must possess two year equivalent FT experience in working with vulnerable populations (i.e. Mental Health, Addictions/Recovery, and homelessness populations) </li><li>Knowledge of and experience in working with individuals engaged in addictions recovery and treatment </li><li>A minimum of one (1) year experience with individual and group counselling; minimum one year nursing experience; proven knowledge of current nursing theory and practice. </li><li>Valid C.P.R. certificate </li><li>Successful completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) </li><li>Successful completion of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology </li><li>Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently </li><li>Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position (recovery oriented practice, trauma informed, harm-reduction philosophy, clinical assessment skills, and a client centered practice within a nursing scope) </li><li>Demonstrated communication skills </li><li>Ability to respect and promote confidentiality </li><li>Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis </li><li>Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population </li><li>Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients and within interdisciplinary team </li></ul> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>Reporting to the Supervisor of the In-House program, or the Supervisor of Community-based programs, and working within an integrated multi-disciplinary team, nurses are required to provide services to clients engaged in addiction recovery and treatment. Clients will be engaged in community based OAT treatment or residing in a co-ed treatment facility. This position requires a commitment to a client-centred philosophy and approach to the development, provision and support of programs and services.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assessment of client's medical needs upon admission. </li><li>Implements the planned medical care of clients including all aspects of nursing procedures and therapies. </li><li>Responds to medical emergencies. </li><li>Ordering, preparing and monitoring the use of prescribed and over the counter medications. </li><li>Maintains medical portions of client files. </li><li>Networking and liaising with the medical community regarding client's pre-treatment, treatment and post treatment medical needs. </li><li>Develop and deliver health related education programs. </li><li>Individual and group counselling. </li><li>Responds to crisis situations including suicide ideation. </li><li>Meets administrative requirements with respect to correspondence, statistics, activity reports, attendance. </li><li>Training non-medical employees with the self-administration medication process. </li><li>Provides professional nursing services for clients with complex and unpredictable health needs. </li><li>Communicate respectfully and positively with clients and staff and presents self in an approachable and friendly manner </li><li>Respond to client requests and crises in a responsible, timely and flexible manner </li><li>Balance the needs of clients, other staff persons and those of the organization. </li><li>Commitment to on-going professional development activities and engagement in reciprocal learning experiences with colleagues and direct supervisor </li><li>Commitment to personal and professional ethics, integrity and responsibility </li><li>Ability to manage one's own emotions and strong feelings; maintain a calm and tactful composure under a broad range of challenging circumstances; think clearly and stay focused under pressure. </li><li>Ability to match treatment services to client's unique circumstances. </li><li>Maintain current and accurate confidential records of client files </li><li>Works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team within the organization. </li><li>Establishes and maintains professional working relationships and regular communication with community and other related organizations relevant to client's needs </li><li>Within the MOST program: works collaboratively with addiction's physician </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul>
