Join us in making a difference and being part of a community that values each individual's growth and achievements.</p> <p>Department Specific Job Summary:</p> <p>Payroll Senior Specialist is responsible for the routine processing of the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls utilizing the Oracle payroll module. Duties include but are not limited to processing Online Graduate Appointments (OGA) and Individual Compensation Distribution (ICD) appointments into Oracle, WorkForce Time & Attendance Management and Year-End W-2 processing. Calculate and process termination payments, back pay adjustments, unpaid leave adjustments and other salary adjustments as needed. Review nightly and weekly edits. Set up new garnishments, support orders, and tax liens. Update payroll procedures and run ad hoc reports as necessary. Perform monthly payroll reconciliations and resolve any payroll discrepancies on a timely basis. Acts as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others in the area of payroll processing. Maintains confidentiality of payroll/personnel information.</p> <p>Department Specific Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare for, run, reconcile the bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll process, including transferring the funds for NACHA deposits, and support payments, printing checks. Reviews, analyzes, and verifies payroll reports and documents for accuracy; makes necessary adjustments or corrections through journal entries or other established procedures. Process out-of-cycle manual checks on an as needed basis. </li><li>Calculate and process termination payments, back pay adjustments, unpaid leave adjustments and other salary adjustments as needed. Review weekly and nightly edits. Setup new garnishments, support orders, and tax liens. Process payroll reversals. Assist International employees as they create and maintain their Glacier record and with completion/correction of various payroll tax forms - I-9's, W4's - for NRA's who have just received their SSN's. </li><li>Activities include but are not limited to processing Online Graduate Appointments (OGA) and Individual Compensation Distribution (ICD) appointments into Oracle, WorkForce Time & Attendance Management and Year-End W-2 processing. This includes partial pay adjustments, Payroll Expense Distribution System (PEDs) corrections, and contract cancellations and modifications. </li><li>Acts as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others in the area of payroll processing. Analyzes and responds to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures. Assist all departments with payroll questions as needed. </li><li>Prepare and update payroll forms as needed. Document new processes and procedures as well as update old processes. Help test any changes necessary in our various IT systems. Test all patches, including working with Payroll Systems Lead and Tax Manager on Vertex tax updates. Identify and work with IT to resolve any system issues promptly. Work with Payroll Operations Manager to identify and modify processes as needed to address regulatory changes. Perform additional related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>General Job Summary:</p> <p>Responsible for all payroll processing activities, including regular and overtime pay processing, employee and employer contributions/withholdings, vacation and sick time accruals, and payroll taxes.</p> <p>General Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as the initial contact for customers, including students and families. Guides and assists customers with highly complex questions, paperwork, and requirements, as they relate to financial and business activities such as billing, financial aid, tuition rates, tax forms, refunds or student receivables. Mentors, coaches, and trains lower level employees on customer service and department policies. </li><li>Often directs work, trains, and/or supervises other staff or student employees. </li><li>Performs financial analyses and makes recommendations based on data. </li><li>Reviews the work of other employees for accuracy and compliance with accepted standards and University policies. </li><li>Reconciles bank statements and general ledger accounts related to payroll. Transfers funds to and from bank accounts. Researches errors and discrepancies. Processes corrections and handles non-routine activities such as monitoring special payment arrangements on student accounts. </li><li>Analyzes and monitors department and program budgets. Approves and tracks expenditures. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Knowledge of finance and business technical and practical concepts, processes, and methods typically obtained by a high school degree or GED or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
