Typical work assignments will include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Direct and supervise work of assigned subordinate employees and adjust schedules to meet office needs. </li><li>Maintains network architecture and infrastructure. Resolve software and hardware interface and interoperability problems. </li><li>Performs network diagnostics and resolves network problems. Analyzes network traffic patterns and installs network software fixes, upgrades, and enhancements. </li><li>Implements programs to ensure users are aware of, understand, and adhere to system security policies and procedures. Implements policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. </li><li>Assesses and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns in user support requirements. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. </li><li>You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable. </li><li>If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period. </li><li>You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement. </li><li>If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>In order to qualify for this position, you must demonstrate possession of each of the following basic competencies AND at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal Service, as defined below:</p> <ul> <li>Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. </li><li>Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. </li><li>Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. </li><li>Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. </li></ul> <p>AND</p> <p>GS-13: To be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in Federal service.</p> <p>Specialized Experience is defined as providing user support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software and hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications including orientation for new users; assisting in the configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; establishing metrics to evaluate and measure system performance; assisting in office-wide account maintenance and software and hardware updates; monitoring the functionality, security, and integrity of internet services and managing internet servers for capacity and performance of the network; planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and application software.</p> <p>Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
