<p>ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ELL) TEACHER - 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR</p> <ul> <li>This posting may be used to fill one or more same or similiar positions * </li></ul> <p>Greater New Bedford Regional Voc Tech High School</p> <p>10 Month Position (185 days)</p> <p>Position Purpose: The position provides instruction for grades 9-12 for English Language Learners. Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Maintain continuous evaluation of student progress This position is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control; performs all other related work as required.</p> <p>Essential Functions\</p> <p>Develops and maintains an environment conducive to effective learningDevelops and administers English Language</p> <p>Development curriculum and content school curriculum consistent with school and district goals and objectives.</p> <p>Delivers push-in/pull-out/co-taught ESL lessons to students with varying levels of English proficiency as determined by the recommended periods of instruction set forth by the Mass. DESE.</p> <p>Implement content curriculum using WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards and Common Core State Standards for ELs in grades 9-12.</p> <p>Provides needed modifications and scaffolding for student learning and testing when required.</p> <p>Works collaboratively with ESL and school staff in order to support English Learners.</p> <p>Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and families concerning the broad academic, social-emotional, and behavioral progress of assigned students.</p> <p>Participates in/follows all federal and state mandated procedures and timelines for the identification and progress monitoring of English Learner students within the school setting.</p> <p>Maintains compliance with all federal and state mandated timelines for the completion of English Learner paperwork.</p> <p>Conducts screener testing for initial evaluations and reevaluations, when applicable.</p> <p>Provides assistance with transition services, as appropriate.</p> <p>Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of English Language Learners.</p> <p>Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.</p> <p>Evaluates and monitors student progress on a continuing basis.</p> <p>Maintains accurate, complete and correct records by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.</p> <p>Assists with the oversight and delivery of Massachusetts state test (ACCESS) and administers screening tests for initial identification of ELL students.</p> <p>Prepares for and assists with organization of ELL student reclassification, English Learner Success Plans, ELD Progress Reports and other compliance record keeping.</p> <p>Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.</p> <p>Is available to meet with students and families for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.</p> <p>Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.</p> <p>Participates in staff and faculty meetings.</p> <p>Participates in the evaluation process.</p> <p>Supports students in Career and Technical Education programs.</p> <p>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning.</p> <p>Collaborates and communicates with the ELL students' SEI content teacher(s) to align instruction and develop curriculum.</p> <p>Performs other job-related duties as needed.</p> <p>Recommended Minimum Qualification</p> <p>Education, Training and Experience:</p> <p>Valid Preliminary or Professional License in English as a Second Language 9-12 by DESE.</p> <p>Knowledge, Ability and Skills:</p> <p>Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curriculum and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided,</p> <p>Demonstrates effective classroom management skills and provides for sound and effective techniques of instruction</p> <p>Ability. A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Have the desire and skill to work with a diverse community in a meaningful and genuine manner. Culturally Proficient leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and use of data for decision making. Demonstrates the ability to adjust presentation of subject content to students needs and interests, Effectively utilizes class space to form an environment conducive to learning and effectively uses instructional facilities, equipment and materials. Ability to communicate effectively, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school employees, students, teachers, parents, and vendors, ability to recognize school-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal effectively with interruptions, occasionally under time pressure.</p> <p>Skills: Demonstrates enthusiasm for learning and interest in students.</p> <p>Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of achievement and classroom behavior. Demonstrates effective knowledge and use of curriculum content (subject-matter and skills) associated with the instructional assignment,</p> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate effective knowledge of and be sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population. Willing and able to perform assigned duties in a manner that is sensitive to different personalities, respectful of the role and authority of school leaders, sensitive to community dynamics. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.</p> <p>Supervision:</p> <p>Supervision Scope: Performs routine duties that are clearly defined by the protocol and standard operating procedures.
