And, that we have the power to carry that spirit with us into our hearts, lives, communities, and everywhere we go.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.</p> <p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Executive steward and Assistant Executive Steward with the department's daily operations. </li><li>Maintain safe working conditions and practices. </li><li>Supervise the floor during operation. </li><li>Assist colleagues with their job functions to ensure optimum performance. </li><li>Oversee and assist with the proper cleaning, rack and distribution of all China, Silver and Glassware. </li><li>Anticipate other department's needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all requests, however busy and at whatever time of day. </li><li>Prepare pull sheets, and equipment set-up banquet functions. </li><li>Monitor colleagues to ensure that they are following established safety and infection control policies and procedures including body mechanics and ergonomics. </li><li>Monthly Scheduled deep cleaning of all ice machines. </li><li>Daily check of hand sink to ensure there's paper towels, soap, and sanitizer in all the dispensers. </li><li>Daily check of all bar dishwashers to ensure they are working properly and have chemicals. </li><li>Maintain knowledge of hotel features/ services, outlets, and hours of operation. Complete pull list for off-sites </li><li>Gather equipment for banquets kitchen and label set equipment with BEO </li><li>Ensure that hallways are clear of any unused kitchen equipment. </li><li>Responsible for creating daily organization projects such as organizing China or Glassware, trash containers, crescors, hot boxes and speed racks are cleaned and ready for use. </li><li>Maintaining loading dock cleaned of any trash and kitchen equipment. </li><li>Organizing incoming purchases and maintaining chemical room organized and clean. </li><li>Ensuring colleague staff follow proper uniform and hygiene guidelines. </li><li>Responsible for leading daily pre-shift meetings with colleagues if manager is not available. </li><li>Assist in other areas as needed. </li><li>Follow all health and safety guidelines, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment as per OSHA regulations. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Stewarding Manager or Assistant Manager to ensure overall cleanliness and operational efficiency </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with a proven track record of guiding and motivating the stewarding team to maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and service excellence </li><li>Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively engage with hotel guests, kitchen staff, suppliers, and other hotel departments, ensuring clear and efficient coordination </li><li>Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and sound judgment in addressing and resolving personnel, operational, and cleanliness issues in a timely manner </li><li>Resilience under pressure, maintaining composure and effectiveness when overseeing stewarding operations, managing multiple tasks, and ensuring quality control in a fast-paced hotel environment </li><li>Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess situations quickly and implement practical solutions to maintain hygiene standards and operational efficiency </li><li>High organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and ensure the smooth operation of stewarding duties across various hotel areas </li><li>Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to unexpected demands, such as changes in guest requirements or last-minute events, while maintaining high service levels </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with hotel staff, vendors, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and smooth operations </li><li>Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor, even during high-stress situations, to ensure that stewarding duties are carried out effectively and that the hotel's standards are upheld </li><li>Commitment to continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to staying updated on best practices in hospitality, cleaning techniques, and health and safety standards to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction </li><li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Two years prior supervisory stewarding experience preferred. </li><li>Understanding and experience in a luxury hotel environment. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to function well in a high-paced environment. </li><li>Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds. </li><li>Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 50 pounds. </li><li>Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. </li><li>The role may require extended periods of time on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events. </li><li>Clear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Concierge activities. </li><li>Good hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders. </li><li>Depending on the industry, stewards may work in outdoor environments where they may be exposed to various weather conditions. </li><li>Stewards may work long hours, especially during events or peak business hours.
