<p>POSITION TITLE: Migrant Education Program - Migrant Regional Service Center - Region I</p> <p>Migrant Summer School - Special Project, Migrant Education Specialist/Night Counselor</p> <p>FTE - Temporary</p> <p>RECRUITED BY: Director, Bilingual Services Department/MRSC-Region I</p> <p>IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director, Bilingual Services Department/MRSC-Region I</p> <p>SALARY RANGE: Hourly Rate Based on Experience</p> <p>CONTRACT LENGTH: July 14, 2025 - July 17, 2025</p> <p>11:30 pm to 8:00 am</p> <p>LOCATION: St. Mary's College</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>Provide a variety of support services for migrant students and their families who are enrolled in the Migrant Education Program, 2025 Migrant Summer School - Special Project. Candidate must be able to work with a linguistically and culturally diverse group of students and parents.</p> <p>MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree preferred, must have several years of experience working with middle school and high school students and their families </li><li>Teaching experience preferred </li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills </li><li>Candidate must be able to work closely with a team </li><li>Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with parents, students, teachers and all SBCSC/MRSC/Region I staff </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to assist with translations and interpretations (English/Spanish) </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills - editing, spelling, and use of proper grammar </li><li>Excellent technology skills preferred - complete knowledge of Google Suite </li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills </li><li>Ability to carry out SBCSC and Migrant Education Program policies and procedures </li><li>Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times </li><li>Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work as a team </li><li>Ability to exercise tact and discretion when dealing with students, parents, and staff </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and student information </li><li>Must be able to handle and help move boxes of supplies as needed </li></ul> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Carry out the policies and procedures of the South Bend Community School Corporation and the Migrant Education Program/Migrant Regional Service Center - Region I </li><li>Provide translation/interpretation services for Site Administrator, summer program teachers, students and support staff </li><li>Work with St. Mary's staff to maintain a safe environment </li><li>Work with MRSC Family Outreach Specialist to access student/family information and assist with student/family requests as needed </li><li>Collaborate with Region I staff and Director in monitoring all program activities for Summer School. </li><li>Assist in registration for the Migrant Summer School (when applicable) </li><li>Help direct students and parents to the appropriate Migrant Family Outreach Specialist to access support services </li><li>Develop positive and supportive relationships with migrant students </li><li>Attend all MRSC staff meetings and/or meetings held by Site Administrator </li><li>Participate in professional development activities as determined by Director </li><li>Manage development of projects as assigned and complete other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>WORK-RELATED CHARACTERISTICS:</p> <ul> <li>Is sensitive to the needs of migrant students, and their families </li><li>Maintains confidentiality about student and family information </li><li>Has consistent daily attendance and follows procedures for reporting absences </li><li>Reports for work on time </li><li>Uses time constructively </li><li>Works cooperatively with other MRSC/BSD and building staff </li><li>Displays a positive attitude and is a team player </li><li>Adapts to changes in work assignments </li><li>Accepts direction and constructive criticism in a positive manner </li><li>Displays appropriate initiative and self-direction with minimal supervision </li><li>Contributes with innovative ideas and changes </li><li>Recognizes situations where staff response is necessary and reacts appropriately </li><li>Supports Migrant Services program initiatives and fosters a positive work environment </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL NOTATION:</p> <p>The position requires that staff must be present throughout the duration of the entire Summer Migrant Program - Special Project. The position also requires flexible scheduling of work responsibilities.</p>
