<p>In accordance with the Mission and Strategic Plan of the University, the Graduate Assistant for the Office of Student Engagement supports a high quality and vibrant co-curricular student experience by supporting the development and execution of a variety of student engagement opportunities including weekly social activities, leadership development, fraternity and sorority life and student organization management.</p> <p>Upon the recommendation of the Director for Student Involvement and Multicultural Initiatives and the Dean of Student Life, appoints the Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Director for Student Involvement and Multicultural Initiatives or his/her designee.</p> <ul> <li>Please note, the graduate assistant tuition does not apply to the MS, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology programs. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Responsible for living the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence, respectful association and active support of Catholic and Lasallian higher education with a commitment to student development.</p> <ul> <li>Supports the planning and implementation of large-scale, collaborative, campus programming and events including, but not limited to: Monthly Student and Multicultural Engagement activities, Welcome Week, Student Involvement Fairs, I Love Lewis Day, Lewis Fest, Si Se Puede and Fulfilling the Dream Conferences and any other collaborative events as assigned. </li><li>Assist in the planning and implementation of evening and weekend activities. </li><li>Substitute as a Student Engagement presenter when professional staff is unavailable to do so. </li><li>Participate in collaborative efforts to enhance community development through social and or educational programming. </li><li>Assist in administrative duties including, but not limited to: reviewing & responding to email requests in a timely manner, database organization, maintenance of accurate records, scheduling room and equipment reservations. </li><li>Other duties as deemed appropriate by departmental needs </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree is required with experience in student activities in a college setting and/or event planning preferred. </li><li>Must be a graduate student in good standing in a degree program at Lewis University. </li><li>Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing. </li><li>Must be able to work 20 hours on campus per week in the office </li><li>Must have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. · </li><li>Must have ability to assist student organizations in overall operations as well as a good understanding and initiative to assist in campus-wide programming. </li><li>Must be dedicated to student development and possess an appreciation for diversity on campus. ·-Must possess a record of personal integrity and a commitment to Catholic higher education are essential. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>The Office of Student Activities prefers that individuals in this position live on campus due to the fact that the Graduate Assistants working in this office are required to assist with evening and weekend events.</p> <p>Essential Duties Work hours</p> <p>Part-time; minimum of 20 hours per week. This is an ON-CAMPUS position. There is no remote work option or PTO for this position. This position will work when the Student Engagement Office is open including Fall Break, Winter Break and Summer.</p>
