Hours to be worked out with manager.</p> <p>VP Area President Department 01750 - ENGINEERING DISTRICT Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $65,000 - $80,000 Close Date 07/01/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>Facilities Management</p> <p>Direct/Manage/Supervise the overall operation and maintenance of building, equipment, and grounds. Maintain compliance with all procedures, policies, and regulations and ensure timely response to regulatory issues and inspection findings. Plan facilities 'organizational structure to accommodate growth and change in priorities. Determine needs for equipment leases, purchases, and services. Negotiate contracts with vendors and maintain vendor relationships. Ensure that projects meet specifications and budgets. Ensure that necessary licenses and permits are obtained. May act as liaison to leasing and property management organizations and planning commissions. May also be responsible for facilities' security, in the absence of dedicated security staff.</p> <p>Learn more about the great benefits of working for University of Utah: benefits.utah.edu</p> <p>The department may choose to hire at any of the below job levels and associated pay rates based on their business need and budget.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Hiring, training, and managing maintenance personnel, including performance appraisals and disciplinary actions. </li><li>Manage payroll & absence management </li><li>Create and manage shift assignment sheets </li><li>Manage staff schedules (on call, overtime, event schedules, etc) </li><li>Manage equipment proper use, maintenance & safety </li></ul> <p>Customer Service:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborating with other university departments, project managers, and external contractors on maintenance and construction projects. </li><li>Conduct regular inspections to ensure standards are consistently mel </li><li>Regularly meet with customers to make sure their needs are being mel </li><li>Act as point of contact for building managers, resolving maintenance related issues. Contract Management </li><li>Develop, solicit, and manage long term maintenance contracts </li><li>Manage vendor relationships by providing timely feedback and constructive solutionsdesigned to aid vendor performance </li><li>Ensure all contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards. </li><li>Maintain accurate and organized contract databases; ensure timely updates and audits. </li></ul> <p>Manager Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinating Repairs and Maintenance - Overseeing the scheduling and completion ofrepairs, preventative maintenance, and emergency maintenance on visible buildingassets. </li><li>Developing and Implementing Maintenance Plans - Creating and executing plans toensure maintenance tasks are performed regularly in order to maintain the Universitymaintenance standards. </li><li>Managing Budgets - Developing and managing budgets for building maintenance,including labor, materials, and equipment </li><li>Ensuring Compliance - Ensuring that all building maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and university policies and that employees are properly trained. </li><li>Assist and fill in for peers as needed. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).</p> <p>Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:</p> <p>Supervisor, Facilities Management: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.</p> <p>Senior Supervisor, Facilities Management: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a related field (Facilities Management, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience. </li><li>Proven experience in facilities management, including supervision, budgeting, and project management. </li><li>Strong technical knowledge of building maintenance (custodial & landscaping) </li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Experience with building automation systems and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is often preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations. </li></ul> <p>Type Benefited Staff Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
