<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number 005275 Position Title Accountant II - 005275 Division Academic Affairs Department 300000 - SRVP Academic Affairs Office Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and two years of professional accounting experience. A master's degree in accounting may be substituted for one year of the required experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary</p> <p>The University of South Alabama's Academic Affairs department is seeking to hire an Accountant II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>These are the job duties required of the position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Performs various accounting functions for the Office of Academic Affairs. </li><li>Serves as the contact person for general accounting questions for units reporting to the Division of Academic Affairs. </li><li>Maintains financial records of assigned activities. </li><li>Reviews and approves personnel paperwork daily to include EPAFs and PAs and works with departments to correct any errors. </li><li>Runs processes and reports in Banner related to paying part-time faculty (FLAC) and communicates with colleges to correct errors. </li><li>Reviews and approves requests for changes to the chart of accounts for the Division of Academic Affairs. </li><li>Assists in monitoring departmental emails daily to distribute, follow-up, and ensure that documents are processed timely and correctly. </li><li>Reviews and approves transfer requests and journal entries. </li><li>Reviews and approves payments and transactions in Concur Payment System. </li><li>Prepares routine and special journal entries as needed. </li><li>Assists in financial analysis as directed by management including preparing various reports, summaries, and worksheets from appropriate reporting systems, as well as balancing and reconciliation. </li><li>Provides training to support staff in units reporting to the Division of Academic Affairs periodically. </li><li>Assists with maintaining and closing out departmental budgets. </li><li>Meets with financial support staff as needed. </li><li>Communicates in person, on the phone, and by email. </li><li>Regular and prompt attendance. </li><li>Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required. </li><li>Related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Vacancies 1 Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 05/12/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Working Days Monday - Friday Working Hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Job Location Main Campus Full-time or Part-Time Full Time Regular or Temporary Regular</p>
