<p>BUCKEYE VALLEY LOCAL SCHOOLS</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Position: Intervention Specialist</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principal/Assistant Principal/Director of Pupil Personnel</p> <p>Employment Status: Regular/Full-time</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Description: Facilitates the education of students with multiple needs by the development,</p> <p>implementation, and evaluation of special education Individual Education Plans</p> <p>NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor the safety of students and ensure that students are supervised in a manner appropriate for their age, disability, and IEP requirements </li><li>Effectively manage the classroom and student behavior to maintain an effective learning environment </li><li>Maintain accurate and complete records as required </li><li>Guide students to promote educational development </li><li>Attend parent/teacher conferences </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues </li><li>Appropriately assess student learning </li><li>Provide daily plans for substitute </li><li>Create a classroom environment conducive to learning </li><li>Assist administration in implementing building procedures </li><li>Take necessary and responsible precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information </li><li>Attend meetings and in-service as required by negotiated agreement </li><li>Attend field trips </li><li>Teach students using sound instructional strategies </li><li>Observe ethics of teaching </li><li>Meet all required IEP/ETR deadlines </li><li>Plan, implement, and evaluate daily learning activities based on student Individual Education Plans and </li></ul> <p>student's needs</p> <ul> <li>Produce, manage, and complete the necessary documentation for charting student educational progress </li><li>Participate in a team approach for the development of Individual Education Plans and behavior </li></ul> <p>management</p> <ul> <li>Participate in the development of behavior management plans as needed </li><li>Communicate with parents and support agencies </li><li>Provide direction and training to teaching assistants/paraprofessionals in a classroom setting </li></ul> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the selection of program materials as needed </li><li>Promote good public relations </li><li>Serve as a role model for students </li><li>Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships </li><li>Participate in training/professional development as required by state or local policy/ </li></ul> <p>procedures</p> <ul> <li>Supervise student teachers as agreed </li><li>Maintain current professional licensure </li><li>Schedule home visits and team meetings with staff and guardians </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor </li></ul>
