<p>Current Employees: If you are currently employed at any of the Universities of Wisconsin, log in to Workday to apply through the internal application process.</p> <p>Position Title:</p> <p>Heat/Cool Plant Operator</p> <p>Job Category:</p> <p>University Staff</p> <p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Job Profile:</p> <p>Heat/Cool Plant Operator II</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <p>UW-Parkside is seeking a Heat/Cool Plant Operator I or Heat/Cool Plant Operator II for the Heating and Chilling Plant on campus. The Heating & Chilling Plant provides steam and chilled water to campus buildings, which are inter-connected by a series of underground tunnels and conduits. Power Plant Operators are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the entire plant in a safe and efficient manner, assistance in emergency situations, emergency repairs, and performance of any other duties associated with the operation of a complex heating and chilling plant.</p> <p>Hours of Work:</p> <p>Primarily 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM)</p> <ul> <li>Occasional 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) or 3rd shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) Random shifts, 12 hour shifts, repeated/successive shifts, or overtime may be required. </li></ul> <p>Key Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Makes regular inspections of plant equipment and prepares equipment malfunction reports </li><li>Assists with preventative and corrective maintenance as needed </li><li>May work without direct supervision on shift operations </li><li>Cleans and maintains work areas and equipment </li><li>Maintains forms, logs, or reports </li><li>Starts, stops, and adjusts equipment settings to maintain operational requirements </li><li>Assists in the training and oversight of new employees in these and other safe and efficient plant operational procedures </li><li>Adheres to safety protocols and procedures </li><li>Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant and its associated equipment </li><li>Complies with environmental protection protocols and procedures </li><li>Analyzes data and communicates recommendations on equipment and systems operations, both verbally and in written reports </li></ul> <p>Department:</p> <p>Facilities Management</p> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>Operator I, starting pay at $26.00/hr</p> <p>Operator II, starting pay at $28.00/hr</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <p>Operator I</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED</p> </li><li> <p>Some training in heating, cooling and/or power plant operations, or related experience</p> </li><li> <p>ASOPE Third Class Power Plant Operating Engineer License (or approved equivalent), to be obtained prior to the completion of the 12-month probationary period and maintained thereafter</p> </li></ul> <p>Operator II</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED</p> </li><li> <p>Formal training or a minimum of one year of experience in heating, cooling, or power plant operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess and maintain a current ASOPE Third Class Power Plant Operating Engineer License or equivalent credential</p> </li></ul> <p>Ergonomic Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must have the physical strength and stamina to perform required work</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to perform duties under adverse conditions such as working below grade, in extreme hot/cold or confined spaces and from elevated or uneven surfaces</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to climb ladders, traverse planks or walkways, squat, kneel, bend, stoop, crawl, twist, lay flat and adequate balance to accomplish the required tasks</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. repeatedly</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to tolerate airborne dust and a dirty work environment</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and flexibility to access boiler watersides/firesides and tanks/vessels through restricted openings as small as 11" x 15" elliptically</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to apply torque by use of hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, torso, and legs</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to exert pushing, pulling, and twisting forces</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and mobility to move about the plant and perform complex procedures under established time constraints</p> </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <p>High school diploma or GED</p> <p>How to Apply:</p> <p>To apply, click the Apply button at the top of this page.
